I'm stuck this year on what to get for DSis.

I want it to be something that's a treat, that she wouldn't normally get for herself (they have been pretty much skint all this year) but not clothes as she's trying to lose weight and has said she doesn't want anything new until she's a smaller size.

So, please help...

What about a cinema voucher or a voucher for a manicure? Or some nice hand cream or moisturiser?

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 12/11/2011 16:22

An Amazon, John Lewis or M&S voucher would suit me (if I were your DSis, of course).

Hand cream from Clarins or Aveda plus a Chanel nail varnish

A cashmere scarf (lovely, especially if she doesn't want new clothes - you can enjoy a scarf at any size!)

Really lovely knickers

A new handbag? You could get a nice leather one in TK Maxx for that price.

Molton Brown bubble bath and a good book.

A dramatic bracelet or cuff.
And/or fabulous ear rings

Scented PartyLite candles.
Voucher for a massage/manicure.
Joules fingerless gloves.
Lancome mascara.
Hobby Craft voucher

Any of the above would make me very happy. Smile

I would be happy if someone would spend £20 on me :-)

There is a Clinique gift set, its a little pink makeup bag with a keyring which has six interchangeable little mini lip gloss and lipstick charms. Its £20.

Or, I would love the Yankee Candle Christmas book style sampler gift set at £20.

You could even get me a bottle of wine and box of chocs to go with them!

Thanks for the ideas.

We have agreed not to buy for each others DCs and buy for each other instead (as the DC will be getting lots of things from Santa, GPs etc, and neither of us is able to treat ourselves at the moment). Trouble is, it seems to put more pressure on if that makes sense.

Books, nail vouchers, lovely cosmetics all seem like a good idea. (I'll try to have a root through her make up bag and see what's on its way out!)

Agree that Lancome mascara is good - and they do a nice little gift set at this time of year with a mascara, an eyeliner and a tiny makeup remover pot for about twenty quid.

What kind of books does she like?

ballstoit · 12/11/2011 18:24

Luckily we tend to read similar stuff and then swap, so I generally know what she'll like, and then get the bonus of reading it when she's finished Grin

Think I'll go and have a wander round Boots when the DC and I finally manage to all be healthy on the same day.

I wouldn't go for a voucher as if she's struggling for money, you can guarantee shell spend it on necessary stuff or stuff for the kids and then it's not a treat for her. How about a lovely hat scarf and gloves set or nice pjs and slippers?
