How to fill big sack for grown up when we are economising this year

My dh has big personalised Christmas sack for presents that I got him. So do my parents in fact. But we're economising this year and just getting a smallish lot of presents, which will get lost in such a big sack. Any ideas for how I can fill it up?

I don't find it odd at all.

Dh and I always have a stack of presents each, a sack would be handy tbh.

I would get:-

A book
selection box
large tin of chocs/biscuits
bottle of wine
bottle of jd
bag of nuts
favourite treat foods (peanut butter, posh jam, spam Grin)
cheeseboard
port
beer
pajamas
slippers
dressing gown
socks
underwear
clothes
hat/scarf/gloves
smellies
massage bar
items for his hobby?
stationary
dvd
cd

The consumables would have been bought in the christmas shop anyway so no extra cost but looks like extra pressies.

I'd check in some Rennie with all that Norma Grin

How rude and judgemental people are passing unsolicited opinions on another family's traditions. The thread is asking for ideas for the sack - if you don't have any don't post!

OP how about putting the gifts in shoe boxes and wrapping them? Towels? Dressing gown? Helium ballon?

well my parents alwasy had a sack each for christmas and when we have the money we have a sack each for adults in this house so there Grin. We tend to get things like:

dressing gowns
slippers
I had a slow cooker last year (I asked for one)
Dh has an x box game or whatever the current thing is
I make things for it homemade to bulk it out because dhs things tend to be more expensive (he is a gadget lover).Last year i did a box of 100 reasons why i love you and he still has it on his desk :)
I normally have a bit of a naughty present at the top of mine (think anne summers) which i get to open alone before the kids get up.
Dh likes books he gets lots i gather from various sales/charity shops.
of course the normal smellies, socks etc
This year dh is getting an electric razor he has been eyeing up.

yes to popcorn - doesn't need to be posh, I can highly recommend Sainsbury's own brand sweet and salty popcorn.

Other bulky things - how about things you'd get anyway like shampoo, deoderant etc?

Foods you'd get anyway for Christmas day, like a big tub of nuts (perhaps with some nut crackers - you can get cheap ones for a couple of quid in the supermarket), or whatever nibbly foods you'd have (I'd add a tin of quality street too, but then I'm a pig on Christmas day).

Dirtydishesmakemesad · 12/11/2011 17:49

oh my dh loves marshmallow so he always gets a massive tub or marshmallow :)

er, zest, I think you've missed the point of mn. Since when did lack of constructive ideas prevent people from posting judgements? Shock Grin

exoticfruits · 12/11/2011 19:16

She did also ask for ideas. Mine was set a different tradition!

ToothlesstheDragon · 12/11/2011 20:17

on amazon you can get the tubs of sweets you used to get in newsagents and tuckshops. Im tempted to get DH a big tub of fizzy cola bottles. Does he have a favourite sweet you could buy like that?

yellowflowers · 12/11/2011 21:28

Oh great ideas thank you. I am getting him DVD so popcorn great idea and the big tub of sweets too. Also nuts and nutcrackers. Thank you.
