Where would you hand all the kids toilet roll santa's and snowmen fromShock

ObiWan · 11/11/2011 16:21

Grin It's kind of retro.

Before the advent of fancy non needle-drop trees, we'd occasionally end up with something that looked like that.

It would have been real though, and would have cost about £5!

goingtoplaytennis · 11/11/2011 16:27

At least they don't sell the silly upside down tress anymore!

QuintessentialShadow · 11/11/2011 16:31

It is meant to resemble "nordic spruce" I think. They are not as lush and chunky as the real tree varieties usually found in the uk.

They have probably looked to some Scandi home and interior magazine, seen a real tree, thought "Hey, thats cool. SOURCE THAT TREE".

Marne · 11/11/2011 16:31

Those upside down trees were just silly, i hope all that bought them are ashamed of themselves Grin, i quite like the bold tree though, it looks more realistic than the fuller trees.

Georgimama · 11/11/2011 16:32

I knew this was going to be a link to a JL tree. I thought it would be the dead twig one that doesn't even look like a Christmas tree though.

pictish · 11/11/2011 16:32

Yes....what was with the upside down tree fad?!
Could not get my head around that one!

QuintessentialShadow · 11/11/2011 16:34

I thought this was going to be a peddlars thread, where they were trying to make a fortune out of selling a tree from last year, with all the needles lost.

Might be good for the environment.

Georgimama · 11/11/2011 16:37

ooh, we haven't done pedlars for at least a week. Will go and have a nosey, their website is always good for side splitting mirth.

celebmum · 11/11/2011 17:01

Ha ha! There's more bush than that in my 'lady garden'!!! GrinGrinGrin

piprabbit · 11/11/2011 17:19

celebmum, this one does seem to be made from pubic clippings. With glitter.

Well I thought the upside down ones were plainly ridiculous but then ds's Christmas traditions book suggested that it was actually an old tradition. A quick scan on the Internet suggest that was indeed how they were used in days of old - hung upside down from ceiling!!

Not sure our ceilings would withstand that!

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 11/11/2011 17:51

£95!!! Shock there's an anaemic looking one in the wood behind the house i could sell you for a fiver, if you're interested Wink Grin

I like a full bush me, much more cosy Grin

celebmum · 11/11/2011 21:18

Ha ha! Pmsl piprabbit! Thats brilliant! GrinGrinGrin

i love this tree
granted i bought mine off ebay for £30 and no way would i pay the £95 price tag
it s perfect for my rustic dining room .dh is allergic to real christmas trees.
my family room tree is a great big bushy artifical one as i agree theyre more cosy.
i love the snowy paper tree too that goes upstairs in my bedroom with pearl and glass decorations.
i just love christmas trees full stop-appart from those upside down ones.
