Remote control car for DS (12)?

I have no idea where to start with this! I have googled but there seem to be hundreds of options. I think he has in mind a car which he can drive 'off road' eg. round the park. Don't know if this is realistic. I don't want to spend more than about £30.

Can anyone tell me anything about remote control cars suitable for this age group within my budget?

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for a great remote control car, we’ve recently updated our best RC cars page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their kids. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I'm not sure if I can be much help but I did buy my DS (10) a RC range rover sport. Came from Argos was about £20 and he loved it. He was constantly asking if we could buy a range rover sport as our family car and it didn't seem to be sinking in that there was absolutely zero chance we'd have that amount of spare cash so the RC option seemed a good one! He got the joke and played with it loads.

Not sure though how well it would do in a park. Can you try and get him to narrow the range by finding out if he prefers sports cars, big cars etc

Thanks for replying. I think he's less bothered about the type of car, and more keen simply on something that can go up and down hills etc Grin

DH seems to think a decent quality one would be ££ and run on petrol Shock

this one looks good , good for hills ? My ds would love the working headlights.
We have had a few cheaper rc cars , i would go for something big and chunky to make it more robust.

Would also recommend getting a rechargeable one as they eat batteries.

cheaper and has a good review , battery issue though

Thanks lilyloo, those links are really helpful. Quite like the look of the first one, because of the rechargeable batteries.
