Not enough! :o.

I'll buy our rabbit and puppy some treats, no doubt :o.

oreocrumbs · 08/11/2011 22:52

I have been known to buy the dogs and cat advent calendars before!! I don't do it now but they do get a Christmas present each!

TheElvesSawBatgirlKissingSanta · 08/11/2011 22:54

All 17 of my pets will get a Christmas gift Grin

MamaPizza · 09/11/2011 07:10

17? Wow! I thought I had many.

The dog will get an advent calendar and a stocking for Christmas. The guinea pigs might get an extra munchy carrot. The snails? No way those slimy creatures get something (I hate them but DS loves them )

girlywhirly · 09/11/2011 08:18

Yes, our cat gets a stocking of the cat treats that she likes best, I would have bought them anyway and they last some weeks. I have a picky cat. She was not impressed by a cat acvent calendar, but the cat I had previously loved his.

I think giving pets presents of species appropriate treats is a good idea, at least they are eating something that won't harm them, and it gives an opportunity to interact with them at a time when they might get a bit ignored with the excitement of Christmas preparations.

I'm now wondering what a species appropriate treat would be for the snails; possibly a cabbage leaf rolled up and tied to look like a cracker?!

CherryMonster · 09/11/2011 08:52

yes girly, tied with strips of spring onion maybe?

MamaPizza · 09/11/2011 08:58

I could get the snails M&S lettuce rather than the Asda one Wink

ToothlesstheDragon · 09/11/2011 09:05

my cat doesnt like treats so i bought him a food bowl from campus gifts (the edward monkton one) and he'll get a packet of posh food, plus some turkey i would imagine Grin

purplepidjin · 09/11/2011 09:13

PurpleKit gets an advent calendar and present every year from her grandparents.

I don't know about PurpleBun, he's only 9 months old. Although he does have a holiday home in Grandma and Grandpa's garden courtesy of Grandpa's Ebay habit Hmm

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 09/11/2011 09:15

My dogs always get a present to open on Christmas morning, they also get a turkey dinner. The cat just gets turkey, she doesnt like treats.

But an advent calendar is a bit OTT for me.

sospanfach · 09/11/2011 09:20

our cats get a tin of tuna each Smile

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 09:25

The dog gets his own little stocking. The items are wrapped in newspaper as he enjoys unwrapping them Grin. Its funny, he gets quite excited.

DD did insist he had an advent calendar last year - we had to put it (as well as hers) on top of her wardrobe as he managed to get it down off her chest of drawers. This is somewhat remarkable as he is a dachshund.

VoldemortsNipple · 09/11/2011 09:25

My dog has an advent calender. He will also get some presents under the tree and his birthday is on 23rd Dec so he will get presents then too.

sospanfach · 09/11/2011 09:26

the only time I ever bought the cats an advent calendar they discovered its hiding place in November (under bed) and disembowelled it all over the floor. They had their chance and they blew it....

celebmum · 09/11/2011 09:31

Sospan maybe that because you bought the cats (plural) an advent calendar (singular).....

Cats can do math you know...!

DDog gets christmas presents not only from us, but also from DM, DMil, DBil and DSil. She quite often has more under the tree than some human members of the family. I should point out I would never ask for/expect doggie presents, but DDog is very much one of the family!

But I haven't done an advent calander or stocking yet. Perhaps I should start?

sospanfach · 09/11/2011 09:33

this may be true. I am a bad owner Sad.

attheendoftheday · 09/11/2011 09:34

Oh, and DDog gives presents to her two best doggie friends. Wrapped up presents. Perhaps I should get out more?

LordOfTheFlies · 09/11/2011 13:14

We got 2 lovely rescue guinea-pig boys a couple of weeks back. I'm sure DD will buy them something.

I've already bought them red snowflake dishes for their pellets.
They can have the leftover wrapping paper shredded in their beds (they don't eat it, too busy guzzling hay)

They can have a bit of all the Christmas veg- yes even raw sprouts!

I'll buy them each a cork Grin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/11/2011 13:18

I make the chickens a Christmas pudding.

I'm actually in shock that I admitted that.

MrsDanverclone · 09/11/2011 13:46

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows, Oh you have me wondering about your Christmas pud, is it a traditional one or do you modify it for them?

Mine have a Christmas dinner of various seasonal items, served on a bed of rice and sardines. ( which they adore) I'd never thought of pud. Do they prefer cream or brandy butter with it?Wink

Dog and cat have their own stockings with treats and toys, plus my mum and aunty always brings them presents as well, because they are sad like meGrin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 09/11/2011 13:50

Well, I get some porridge oats, raisins, cooked peas, tinned sweetcorn, halved grapes and poultry spice in a bowl. Then I add enough warm water to make it in to a sticky, doughy mess. Then I make the mess in to a ball, arrange it on a plate and surround it with a few roast potatoes. I also add some raw cabbage leaves to the top of the 'pudding' so it looks like holly.

DH pretends he doesn't see me.

MrsDanverclone · 09/11/2011 14:01

Don't you flambé it?Shock
I always like to make that little extra effort at Christmas time for my hens. Avoiding singeing their feathers adds to the seasonal fun I think.

Glad I'm not the only mad person making their hens a Christmas dinner.
