I ^have^ to buy something for my teens - so my youngest still thinks Father Christmas has been! But what?

Have three teens who, sadly, refuse to believe in Father Christmas anymore :o. But they still need a pile of presents to open so youngest dc can see Father Christmas has been. I'm doing ok for 14 and 16 yr old, but what can I get for 18yr old ds to open? Tia.

Ooh, thanks for all the suggestions, some really good ideas on here. Am liking the bag idea, the board game, themed boxes, coke glasses etc. Can't imagine why I didn't think of stuff like that myself (well, yes I can, its cos of lack of aforementioned imagination).

And thanks to those of you who explained much more clearly than I was able to what I actually meant! (Not even sure if that makes sense!)

tolietries
favourite food/chocs/childhood sweets
practical things if DS has moved out - kitchen stuff, nice mugs etc
accessories for hobbies, eg running socks, paperweight, travel book
books
calendar
photo album possibly filled with family pics

How about balloons in a large box. Put one voucher etc in each balloon and they pop them to get them out.

Last year DD and ds1 got musical instruments which cost much more than Ds2 got. We gave Ds2 money in an envelope which we wrapped up in a big box to make up the difference. Ds2 was 8 and thorght it was a fantastic present.

What about a food hamper, pamper box, entertainment hamper (cd, head phones, DVD, popcorn, cinema tickets or itunes voucher.

Could you ask your dcs if you could wrap up their Christmas clothes and shoes as well, to add to the pile.

I've just bought a load of stuff from a site I won a competition on! I was struggling to find anything for my brother who's 19.
We got him a Facebook pack! Chocolate bar that you can write a message on the back of (nice and personal) and a wee book of status updates. He's never off his phone on Facebook, we always tease him for it!

Here's the link: chocolatelibrary.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/BB0036.html They had a discount code on their Twitter but I can't remember it! :/

SuzieP29 · 09/11/2011 12:37

Oh, and he always gets a box filled with daft stuff like other people said..why not wrap the box and individually wrap everything inside? He can open all the wee stuff in front of the younger ones then :) (this is making me excited about Xmas now!)

Sports bag / laptop bag or equivalent. Gloves. Decent razor. Quality hair products if into that sort of thing. DVDs. Books - perhaps the Frozen Planet book if into that sort of thing / good cookery book if possibly leaving home soon. Stuff for his room - posters / lamp..... Hope that helps.

It is more difficult to buy a big pile of presents for DCs as they get older- the presents get smaller (but more expensive)

My DC1 is 12 (so not a teen yet) .He'll get X-Box games, maybe a new watch and ,because he still hasn't given me any clues, I don't know what else.

Also his birthday is in December. He's getting the new Assassins Creed X-Box game next week (he won't be made to keep it til his b'day Grin ) and a Yound Driver lesson ( £30 ish for half hour)
Add in a sleepover and pizza/DVD night, that'll do him. He gets money from GParents which he saves.

how would you put a voucher in a balloon, whitemonkey? It's a fab idea if I could only figure out the logistics!

Please don't stop giving teens pressies, my family stopped when I was 'too old' and I still remember how sad I felt.

LauraShigihara · 10/11/2011 11:32

My oldest (twenties) still have stockings at the end of their beds ( I sometimes have to wait for them to get home from the pub before I can fill them though Grin)

Presents are piled under the tree by FC when he comes, so it is harder to see that the oldest two have less parcels than the youngest.

LordOfTheFlies · 10/11/2011 11:33

If you go to one of the places that inflates helium balloons for you, you could roll up the voucher, push it through a tube into the balloon (empty biro ) and get them to inflate it. Bit of a so-and-so to get it home though Grin

Or , we bought a helium cannister + balloons from Costco for DD birthday. Good value and use when you need it.

LordOfTheFlies · 10/11/2011 11:36

We bought the Sylvanian Family Hotel (Argos half price) and a big Halo set (Sainsburys half price) so that the DCs have the all important Big Box Present by the tree.

SinicalSal · 10/11/2011 11:41

I wonder could you put an engagement ring in a balloon like that.

Considering a romantic moment for DH .... a bit late mind

JennaTailor · 10/11/2011 18:41

I made up a hamper last year as a stocking for (as then) 19 yr old son ...he was home from Uni. Also have a 8 yr old son so still wanted to play the FC thing too.

Vodka
Coke
Glasses
Chocolate
DVD
Computer game
Fake tashes (he loved these and he and his mates wore them down the pub)
Snow in a can
Large bag of Doretos
Salsa dip for the crisps
I tunes voucher
Aftershave
Deodorant
Pizza hut voucher
underwear
2 tee shirts

Under the tree he got money
