Stanley tripod torch. DH and my dad loved these. Mine came in a gift tin from BandQ I think. Can be used as a hand held torch or free standing as it's legs fold out and it's head angles. Great for working round the back of appliances etc when you want to see connectors etc.

I love this thread, it has virtually sorted my christmas shopping
Joanofarchitrave DD will LOVE the cinderella theatre, and I'd been really struggling with what to get her so Thanks
There is a DIY version and script on the V+A site here

ISawPINOTSnoggingSantaClaus · 16/11/2011 10:28

What a good thread!

And not all crafty DIY jobs which I just can't do. Buying online is more my style Wink

Thanks all

I posted it elsewhere but I follow a website called The Chocolate Library on Twitter and they have some really cool stuff! Bought Teacher Xmas chocolate bars which came yesterday and are perfect! Also bought a book and chocolate bundle from them. Gorgeous. You can personalised all of their stuff too which is great (looks much more expensive that way I think!) ;)

I am doing my dad a gift hamper of lots of premium biscuits for cheese and putting in lots of local and unusual cheese produce with a bottle of port and some cheese knives. I also thought about getting him a subscription to the country file magazine as he loves that programme and would have loved to be a farmer I think. He likes feeding birds in his garden too so another idea was a bird feeding hamper.

For my mum I am going to try and sneek into her house and get all her really old 35mm slides - get some of them restored and developed into a nice album to keep.

My sisters and I have each brought a concert ticket so we can all have a nice day out together.

For my niece I am thinking of booking her into a local salon to have her nails done.

I have lots more presents to get and running low on ideas so please keep them coming so I can pinch them Grin

We did my Father In Law a lovely hamper last year, he loves loads of unusual American foods. Wee tip - TK Maxx has loads of great food stuff!

I am doing a baking hamper for SIL who is just getting into baking.
Have lined a massive plastic mixing bowl with tea towels, then filled it with bright coloured (to match her kitchen) spatulas, whisk, seive, pastry brush all £1 from wilko, measuring cups and spoons £2 a set from Asda, cake/muffin tins, a pie dish, a cake leveller all TKMaxx sale, a recipe book, some homemade vanilla sugar and some cake cases and decorations.
It looks great if I do say so myself!

For BIL's wives and MIL am doing pamper hampers have filled baskets matching their bathrooms with a hand towel, a bottle of Molton Brown handwash (Used the Red magazine £10 voucher) a glass jar filled with face packs nail brush and file, some fluffy socks from Primark, and posh shampoo, conditioner and other bath stuff (3 for 2 from Boots).

For my nephew and Goddaughter both three we have bought a build-a-bear voucher, and a load of teddy bear chocolate lollies from thorntons and wrapped the chocs and the voucher in cellophane. We will also offer to take them out to build the bear.

I received last year a sugar, spice and all things nice tray which would love to do for someone.
It was a silver tray (poundland do one) with a kilner jar of homemade vanilla sugar, a smaller one of a spiced salt rub for meat then a bigger one filled with tiny squares of homemade rockyroad. The tray was lined with a christmas tea towel. All the jars were labelled with a recipe done on the computer and it was wrapped in tissue and cellophane.

Kladdkaka - thanks so much for linking to that site. Will also be buying the briefcase

TheArmadillo · 16/11/2011 12:28

Having several um geeky friends and family this seller has been my favourite for making up hampers. They sell such hard to get hold of stuff as zombie jerky and luck potions as well as lots of other fun sweets plus a lot of jellybelly stuff. Postage on individual items can be quite high but they seem to combine it well if you buy lots of stuff (I spent about £76 and paid an extra £5.53 for postage). Arrived a couple of days later.

Hampers with a difference this year - I have done one apocolypse survival one with stuff like vampire repelling mints, silver bullets for werewolves, health potion and similar items.

DreamsOfSteamingHotMincePies · 16/11/2011 12:33

thanks SuzieP for the link. I think I migt get this for my DB as he is well known for his inabillity to say any sentance without the word 'like' in it. i'll get the personalization to say 'yeah, y' know..' Grin

ilovemountains · 16/11/2011 12:35

After a recommendation on mumsnet last year I bought my PILs a bird nesting box with a webcam in it, to link to a TV or computer. They love it.

sweetheart · 16/11/2011 12:38

ohhhh - something we do for our kids every year which they love but isn't very expensive it a bubble gum box. just get every type of bubblegum you can imagine and put it in a gift box - our kids love getting one for Christmas and birthday's.

DreamsOfSteamingHotMincePies · 16/11/2011 12:47

haha, love it DreamsOfSteamingHotMincePies! (also love the name! You've made me want one now!)

I bought this chocolatelibrary.co.uk/gbu0-prodshow/BN0012.html for my OH because I always leave him little notes everywhere telling him what to do! He'll hate it but I'll love seeing his face. And I WILL be using the notes, believe me ;)

DreamsOfSteamingHotMincePies · 22/11/2011 10:44

I have bought this book (currently only £5.00 rrp £9.99) for my brother and am really please and think he will love it. It's good for people who don't read very much as its mainly short little one liners that are really funny. Warning though not suitible for the young ones as it can be rather rude in places. Blush

lrfd27 · 22/11/2011 18:51

Love the thought of foody presents - I've used this website a lot and they've also got a traybake club thing where you can create a bespoke membership for those people who you find it impossible to buy for. www.hardyandscott.co.uk

Beetlefan · 24/11/2011 11:50

Something they can swap if they don't like it! sites like www.handpickedcollection.com do no quibble returns. I so agree with a ban on junk this year. I heard of someone asking for people to give them a copy of their favourite book - I love that idea.

tardisjumper · 29/11/2011 11:09

I've got posh spices and nice spice blends from www.thespiceshop.co.uk for PILs. I looked at subscriptions but these looked nicer!

TiaraTara · 29/11/2011 16:58

I?ve managed to get a sleeping bag suit or they call it a musuc bag for my son. A post on netmums.net pointed me to a Christmas gift finder on a gadget website offering 15% discount if you use the code (White15) in the promotions section.
