Christmas Etiquette

I am separated from my wife and girl (who will be 20months old at Christmas) whom I have not seen for a few months. My solicitor has applied for a Court Order to give me access.
My question is if this does not come through in time should I just send my girl a card to show willing or get her a present? I have had virtually no contact (wife's choice) since May so am not sure if I should get a present or save it for her second birthday in April?

Get her a present, a card is meaningless to a 20 month old child.

Of course you should get your daughter a Christmas present. FFS.

Flisspaps · 04/11/2011 10:37

I'd get a card and a present.

Shinyshoes1 · 04/11/2011 10:39

yes I would get both.

maintenance and presents are your responsibility.

Access is a separate issue and I hope it gets sorted.

Listzilla · 04/11/2011 10:41

Absolutely get a present, she's your little girl!

Good luck getting access sorted out, you must be heartbroken not seeing her.

Dillydollydaydream · 04/11/2011 10:43

I'd get a card and present.

CherryRocketMonster · 04/11/2011 16:01

i would get something and either send it or ask your solicitor to pass it along

Yes get her a present. It's nice for your dd and you and means the mum can't hold it against you when you're trying to get access eg " well you didn't even bother to get her a Christmas present, so you mustn't care". Good luck with getting access to your dd

Get the present..

Have you asked wife if you can see girl over the Christmas period? Season of goodwill and all that she might just be waiting for you to ask?
