Can think Of gingerbread men, mince pies and peppermint creams. Any other ideas?
Also how soon before Xmas day would I need to make these or can mince pies be frozen?!

Take a look on Pinterest. Lots of great little ideas on there.

How about some Panforte? It's a type of dense Italian Christmas cake with honey and nuts etc in. It can be cut into small squares and put into presentation boxes. Lots of recipes on the net. I'm going to be making some.

Christmas cookies,
Fudge,
Mini Christmas cakes or puds.
Christmas Choccies

I've made:
6 inch cakes
individual puddings
apple and pear chutney
chilli jam
spiced Guinness mustard
christmas pudding vodka

I still have to make:
pretzel and salted caramel chocolate bark
chocolate salami
beetroot, ginger and cranberry chutney
pork rillettes with apricot mostarda
brioches in orange, cardamom and run syrup
and maybe florentines and fudge or tablet

Recipes are mostly here if you want to have a look : )

Bluddy hell Listzilla! I'm impressed.

Bollocks. Why did it take me until November to think of hampers?!
Great ideas thank you

It's not too late, none of the stuff I'm doing takes a huge investment of time to prepare (that's why a lot of them were chosen! I can get them done at night after DD is gone to bed), and there's still loads of time for things to mature.

The most time-consuming thing, I've found, is actually deciding what to make, and sorting out packaging.

I am doing Xmas pud vodka and red onion and tomato chutney.

How long does chutney keep for?

Hopefully · 04/11/2011 16:24

As long as it's in a sealed jar, chutney keeps forever - improves with age and is really at its best after 3 months or so.

We usually make ginger biscuits, iced biscuits, truffles, sloe gin, cookie mix jars (dry ingredients layered), fudge, chutney, jam, small christmas cake...

ENormaSnob · 04/11/2011 16:34

Thanks, the recipe online says it lasts 6 weeks but I remember keeping chutney for months.

Thought I'd better check just in case.

Mould will not enhance the hampers Wink

I'm drooling over my phone right now! Tonight's plan may involve searching for recipes and packaging!

I have made chutneys in the past. The best was the year when I was weaning and I collected some baby food jars so could make a wee triple set of chutneys, lovely!

Have also got some lovely elderflower juice left and have a fab recipe for mulled Christmas juice.

Shortbread stars are a must - I often give to creche helpers, toddler ladies, nursery extra helpers etc etc.

I wanted to make bramble vodka (that's blackberry to you non-scots) but I missed the boat, maybe next year!!

Just a warning ladies - hamper-making can seriously transform your life!

I started a couple of years ago for gifts - now I produce them for sale in my home kitchen - my weekends between now and Christmas are all booked at Fayres and bazars Grin

I've got 15kg of pumpkin to turn into chutney, about 5kg of Damsons in the freezer for damson and apple cheese and damson and onion chutney, there are apples everywhere and I have 100's of oatcakes to make over the next few weeks!

I love it!
