Christmas Door Wreaths (for your front door)

I used to have one but it was quite heavy and kept landing up on the parking bay.
I used one of the Lakeland Limited hangers (they stick onto glass and are made of clear, rubbery plastic)
The wreath was twiggy with red berries but I spent most of the time picking it up Sad

This year I'm going to use long strands of ivy from the garden with red ribbon.Festive, lightweight and cost-nil.

What do you hang on the front door?

I have a festive twiggy one with bells on. No doubt after 2 days the bells will drive me mad and I'll fling it into the Christmas box till next year!

Although there are adhesive sticker pads that you can get in b&q and suchlike that are very strongholding and have little hooks on them. I use them for everything. Even hanging pictures.

I shall go and google and see if I can find you some so that you don't think I'm making it up.

I have one a bit like this

startail · 02/11/2011 00:32

A very cheap artificial traditional fir wreath with a red bow, hazard up with a string of battery LEDs. After the 300th time it fell down we stuck a screw in the door to hang it on (it is a very tatty doorBlush)

Jazzed, I said 30 minutes ago on another thread it was sleep time!

Last year I bought a new one - it's sticks/twigs/dried woody stuff in a circle proper wreath shape not one of these modern things it has (fake obviously) holly, berries etc and it sounds tacky but it's not too bad - a little red robin and some wee white lights that are battery operated - it sounds all a bit tacky but it's actually quite nice. I bought a door hanger (the ones that are flat and go over the top of the door) painted it white like the door and you can hardly see it.

If I hung a wreath on our front door, it would block out the light to the hall. I usually hang them next to the door, by a screw in the wall where the hanging basket goes in summer. I try to use real foliage as we have no porch and so it gets covered in snow etc.

This year I shall be making a star from bound together lengths of red dogwood stems, I will wind trails of ivy around them and attach small baubles here and there. I may have a small piece of florists foam to push the ivy stalks into to keep them alive, and may add some variegated holly sprigs too. All from plants in our garden.

Ours is a silver twiggy one, with little shiny leaves and silver bells on.

We lost ours somehow the year before last, and last year I was too immersed in baby stuff to buy a new one, so I'm shopping this year for something nice that'll last forever. Any suggestions?

Our house number is in the middle of the door at just the right height, so we hook a loop of fishing wire over that and tie the wreath to it.

Ours is made from wine corks, saved from the year we got married. Hot glued onto a twiggy wreath. Always needs a bit of repair each year.
