Which Harry Potter Lego, or playmobil?

I've exchanged my Tescos vouchers and had more than I thought Smile

DD1 (8) would like Harry Potter Lego or Playmobil. I have enough vouchers for the big castle Grin but after a quick looik she likes the quidditch set and a vet playmobil set (I told her I was looking for a friend's kid). She also liked Hogwarts Express (but has never really been a vehicle person)

I think one big set would have more playability but wondered if anyone had any advice

I just want to get it ordered now (vouchers waiting and itchy fingers and all that!!)

The playmobil sets get played with far more than Lego in this house, but I don't have DD, just DS's. Whole family is male, but i digress.

Once the Lego is built it doesn't do much else, but the playmobil can be played with in addition to other playmobil people and sets.

I would go for the playmobil.

My kids love Harry Potter lego. I feel a bit frustrated that some of the older sets have lost their pieces, well they have became part of the general lego. My kids really love playing with the characters. I would say get the castle. Some of the sets have characters in that aren't available unless you get that set. My dd enjoys building and playing with the lego. My ds prefers just to play with the characters and sets. I like building it too!

my dc not that age yet but would probably go for the harry potter lego - i think it would last longer re playability. (Going on nephew here). What about the harry potter lego games I now nephew loves them. But I do love playmobil - have the new knight advent calendar on top of wardrobe.

We are huge lego fans and have some of the HP sets, but I have to agree with SquirtedPerfume; once the sets are made up they don't get played with much. This is largely because they tend to fall apart if played with. So I would maybe go for a small lego set like the Quidditch and get some playmobil as well.

Advent calender - I really want one of those Smile

She has a couple of playmobil sets and some random lego, that's the thing she LOVES Harry Potter, read all the books earlier this year but isn't actually that into building.

Harry Potter Playmobil would be perfect if they made it!!

aah - Jellycat, might be a good compromise. Bluebell - that's what I'd be concerned about I can't see it all staying together.

Thing is I loved lego when I was a kid (and I love the minifigures :))

I just think the quidditch set looks naff not great value for money

Thing is with this modern Lego (not like when I was a kid) they really only build into the sets they are designed for. The pieces are so specialised you need an enormous amount of it to even make a house.

I know - I just built things when I was little. Maybe just a couple of little sets for the mini figures then (as that's what she'll play with probably.....)

I have dds age 10 & 6. We bought HP Lego castle last Xmas which was fab. We all spent days building it which was a good bonding activity. I then put the castle into an alcove in our dining room, hung fairy lights round it and curly twigs etc.

Dd2 especially has played with it regularly all year, swapping wigs of characters, acting scenes out, etc. It was fantastically successful in this house and I've bought another smaller set to add to it this year. I think it depends on what kind of playing your dcs like. Dd1 liked the building but doesn't really do the role play stuff but dd2 spends half her life acting things out with little characters.

ninja · 01/11/2011 23:15

yes all role play in this house, although dd2 (3) is more into building (and destroying!!)

I just want someone to make my mind up :)
