We have teeny house but v keen to get tree. Need one she won't pull over or eat. Is this just too ambitious - should we go fake this year?

Ours was bald by Christmas Day last year thanks to the children knocking it over. Got a puppy this year as well so it will be a mess. Don't like fake trees though, so we will put up with it.

It depends on whether your child's overly curious or not. You could get a small one and put it onto a table??

What eat a whole tree?

We always have a proper tree cos' I love the smell of pine needles and finding the needles around the home for the rest of the year.

My kids have never pulled the tree over. One did eat all the chocolate decs on the lower branches.

Just get a sturdy round one and enjoy it.

What, a whole one?

NormanTebbit · 27/10/2011 23:18

I don't remember any of mine eating the tree. Needles get stuck in little feet.

When kids were tiny I put mine in a corner and 'barricaded' it off with a spare bit of fireguard.

Mine would have eaten it/climbed it/pulled it over....

When we had DC1 (just before the Millenium) we had a real tree .He was 3 weeks so no threat to the tree Grin

The next year we got a fibre optic tree from Argos. About 4' tall, very pretty colours. And if it got knocked over, nothing to break.

Our cats used to eat, climb and sleep in the tree, but never had a problem with the kids.

We have always has a big real tree. My eldest is nearly 8, and the youngest nearly 1, and we have never had a problem with it.

At first they are in awe of it, then when they get a bit braver, say NO a lot. Grin

The novelty does wear off, and they leave it alone.

We had the Baby Dan around the tree to protect it from our kids. I remember ds2 trying to suck fairy lights and ds1 putting a branch in his mouth (and never doing it afterwards)
