What to get my 20yo student uber cool brother

He really is hard to buy for, I haven't got a clue what to get him, and a budget of no more than £30.
So he's 20, he's a student in Brighton, he's very fashion concious, umm.. he has a notepad laptop thing but he's not really into tech, he likes cooking, drinking with his friends, that kind of thing, I'm stumped as to what to get him though

Does anyone have any ideas?

If he likes cooking, what about a stainless steel casserole dish, I have one and it's terrifically versatile, can be used on the hob or in the oven, for stews, curries, bolognese, chilli etc. Depending on price you could afford a recipe book, possibly, or some dry ingredients like spices to go with it. Or a wide based saute pan with lid, great for all the above, and risottos.

Tesco direct and Argos have some within your budget, at between £20-25. (And they look good!)

I got my 20 year old brother an inflatable T. rex from the early learning centre :o

but if he's into cooking, then some nice ingredients in a hamper? or some kind of cooking utensil, as suggested - a cool knife would probably be a good gift, or a griddle pan - the kind of thing students don't tend to have kicking around shared houses!

If he's in a shared house,a smoke alarm for his room.

A Moleskein (sp?) notebook. Ernest Hemingway cool and totally expensive for what is essentially a jotter.

What about a restaurant for some posh nosh he wouldn't usually be able to afford?

Boots have some quite nice food sets in their 3for2 deal - at his age he'll probs like the nando's or jamie Oliver sets.

A slick pocket torch. You can get very elegant (and expensive) ones.

what about some of those flavored oils or spice rack things that you can pick up in places like BHS or debenhams?!?!

I also a student and was living in student digs and if anyone bought me expensive utensils i'd be worried that they'd be used by some other suspecting flat mate or lost (like some of my stuff was)!!!

Also, if your Bro likes cooking, he'll probably enjoy using his old battered pots and pans and enjoy using the oils/ spices more!!!

if he's a keen cook, he might have these, but if not either a wok, paella pan or hand blender might be useful.

Alternatively themed hampers, e.g mexican kits + mexican beer; Indian hamper with spices/sauces/naan/rice/beer; etc etc & download CDs of relevant music
