New year's eve family ideas needed - Newcastle area

I love christmas and new year, and could happily plan/talk/twitter/organise it for months and for the past few years I have had all the family over for new year's eve - my house is pretty small so as I can't do xmas lunch for everyone (and I don';t get invited anywhere!)I think this is a good compromise. But, this year I would like to go out with DH, DS 10YR AND DD 7yr to a family event but I can't find any. Suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks

I love it too and I'm in your area . I have people over to mine every new years eve. As such I don't know of any events that happen but I'll ask around and keep my ear to the ground for you

We do a family bowling game on NYE, we play individual games but usually DD and I will add our scores to compete against DS and DH.It is supposed to be -Loser buys drinks, winner buys lunch.

DD is very competitive and usually wins but she never buys lunch after.

I never thought of something like that, that would be fun. I had been looking at restaurants/hotels for dance type of thing aimed at families now may look at cinema/bowling etc

Not sure how close you are to it so transport may be an issue but we always go to Beamish hall. They do a lovely family event with a magician, disco and meal. Quite pricey but always a lovely atmosphere.

Last year we went to Hollywood Bowl. Think it was something like £20 adults, £10 Kids for unlimited bowling, a buffet and some party games.

Was great fun.

For the last couple of years, we have been going across to Newcastle city centre for the New Year's Eve parade. We usually meet up with friends and their kids, have something to eat and then watch the parade, which finishes up at the civic centre with a fireworks display. Lots of people there, but as its a family event, there is a lovely atmosphere. Fireworks finish at around 8pm, so not too many drunks to encounter on the way home .

Ooh that sounds fun! I always fancied the quayside fireworks but thought they were at midnight? Tell me more! What time do you get there and where abouts, where do you eat? Tia,sorry to take over thread

it's ok ash would like to know all that myself . Could fancy any of the above, I have heard good things of beamish hall. May have to put it to the family vote. Thanks for ideas.
