Cleaned out tuna tin.

No idea of cooking time, sorry!

...or you could use your muffin tin for extra-titchy ones.

I've been thinking about this all night, as you can see! Grin

Both suggestions might be a bit small but I really like the idea of reusing a food tin.. I'll have a ferret around tesco later.

I'm so looking forward to making them.. I love Christmas cake!

I've read (but never tried it) you can use the small baked bean tins.

Line with foil and greaseproof paper then you can wrap the outside with brown paper.

Don't know how long you bake them for but the Delia Smith book has recipie for a 6" cake so you could scale down the time.

here

Scroll down abit for the christmas cakes. My mums used to make these, I am going to make them this year.

I made mini cakes one year for elderly relatives. I used baked bean tins, just the normal size but only put cake mix in the lower half.

ClaireDeLoon · 04/08/2011 22:21

If you are ok with square mini cakes you could always make a shallow normal sized square one and cut once cooked. I've done this and nit was fine.

ClaireDeLoon · 04/08/2011 22:21

It not nit. Apologies.

I have used small baked bean tins, normal recipe.
You must make sure the tins aren't the sort that are lined with the white plasticky stuff
