Wearing special clothes

I always insist that before Christmas dinner, everyone changes into "smarter" clothes. As long as it's a bit special- I'm happy.

This does mean, however, my daughter will be wearing a fully netted purple satin ballgown and my son will be wearing a black kilt (he's a goth and think it looks cool- I think he looks like he's borrowed his sister's school skirt! I wouldn't tell him that though- as at least he's making an effort).

Does anyone else dress up for Christmas dinner?

Yes when we were younger we would get a new outfit for Christmas and tomorrow I will be wearing a newish dress for the occassion.

depends how hot and bothered i am after cooking xmas dinner as to whether i can be bothered to get changed while dishing up!

oh yes. I always change into something gorgeous - makes me feel more christmassy and as though I am treating the occasion with the merit it deserves (ie I have spent half the day cooking and I want that recognised :o )

However, tis always something with a little....erm....turkey room :)

We've always dressed nicely for Christmas too. But then I come from the sort of family who dress up a bit for church

nope, just wear what I usually wear considering that I'll be doing most of the cooking!

did get dressed up when I was younger though.

Usually do at my parents but it is just DH, DS and I here tomorrow. DS has a bad cold so will probably want to stay in PJs and DH prob won't bother. I'll see how I feel!

We don't, unless we get a 'Christmas jumper' which the dds usually do and dp sometimes does and I never do!

Im hoping that someone (my sister) will buy me a onesie and if so I will put that on when I get home from church tomorrow and it will be staying on ALL day.

My mum always insisted on it, and it's something I'm beginning to think of inflicting on the DCs.

My clever crafty DSis re-created the Bridget Jones Mr Darcey reindeer Christmas jumpers for them. Now sadly almost totally outgrown, but fabulous at the time (wonder if there's a squishy parcel from her this year?)

We dress nicely for Christmas here too. The DCs have new smart jumpers to wear, and I have a (once worn) lovely blouse/jumper from Next.

Always have had new PJs for Christmas Eve and new outfits for Christmas Day. But we're also a family that dress smartly for Church and Restaurants

always wear something a little fancier than usual and some make up. my girls always dressed nicely.

Tomorrow, I am planning to wear a newish dress, we are going to a local hotel for lunch, but then we will return home to get back into our jeans before we go to our friends' house for the evening.

So, I guess a bit of both!

I don't really dress up, just usual clothes that I would wear at a weekend, but I do have a funny thing about changing all the bedding in the house on Christmas eve. I like us all to go to bed in new sheets so in addition to all the other last minute jobs I have to do on Xmas eve, I run around doing all the beds! I then always have a stuffed fun laundry basket. Anyone else do this or is it just me?

It's not a good look- I wouldn't mind if it were tartan- worn with all the right gear.
He wore it without a sporan- and a black shirt.
Oh well- a good time was had by all!

Ah here's a thing! We are a blended family and have been since the older kids were late teens - 4 of them. That will be the reason for this! My 2 DD's dressed up as did I, my DH was smart casual (my influence), his kids were jeans and sweatshirts - it's not even a discussion let alone a battle but if it were I would never win
