Order online, keep it simple, eg:

4yos - stomp rocket

2yos - flap books eg. Maisy loads to do and learn
Also this and other similar ones which have an auto-starting DVD without any trailers, menus etc - perfect for 2-3yo

Also look at Book People

storminabuttercup · 14/12/2010 12:09

books are your friends, buy a nice storybook for all the kids, dressing up stuff for dd, stay in your pjs order online and relax, you have a 10 day old baby you have enough to do! Smile

storminabuttercup · 14/12/2010 12:11

Catilla was much more helpful than me....

TinselinaBumSquash · 14/12/2010 12:15

I would be wary of ordering online now, Rpyal mail have such a backlog from the snow and from the influx of christmas stuff.

Alot of shops and towns do late night shopping at Chirstmas can you leave the kids with dp one evening and nip out and get everything at once, just plan ahead...

Make a list of who you need to buy for, what your gonna get and where you can get it in town, and a backup incase its sold out.

Books/puzzles/cute pj's for children, what about dp what is he into, could you get him a voucher for his favourite shop or something?

OnlyWantsOne, If I were in your position, I would concentrate on buying actual things for your DD and DP, and get vouchers for the other children. I'm sure their parents will understand under the circumstances. The children may be able to use the vouchers to buy extras and accessories to the gifts they already have.

Unless you are in Scotland - deliveries are being cancelled all over the please.

Deux · 14/12/2010 13:43

Are you anywhere near a John Lewis?

When my DD was tiny I was having a similar meltdown about Christmas presents.

I decided that everything had to come from John Lewis to make it easy. So I just spent hours on their website, ordered online and had it delivered. You can search for toys etc by age/popularity. Delivery is free if you spend more than £30.

If you are jittery about deliveries then you can order online and collect in store.

I suppose what I am saying is try to buy it all from one place.

The above was so successful that I've done it again this year.

ragged · 14/12/2010 13:46

Go to one of the charity shops that does new stuff as well (like Oxfam or Sue Ryder). You will cover all the kids there. Any supermarket will manage something for the DH, Itunes voucher?

Failing that, any large supermarket will meet ALL your needs in one outing. Several varieties of cider and some Toblerone would make DH outing.

ragged · 14/12/2010 13:50

outing for happy.

(Sigh)
(Speaking of brain melts)

NetworkGuy · 14/12/2010 13:56

If you are considering anything on Argos website, and have a store nearby, you can reserve items and get order ref sent to mobile and/or e-mail (valid up to close of business next day) so if you want to stay home, could place order online for all but DP's gift and ask him to collect ?

Any friends/relatives you can call on to go for DP's gift ? Just need some cash to let them pay (or do bank transfer).

Congratulations, and do have a great Christmas.

NetworkGuy · 14/12/2010 13:58

ragged - I thought that sending DP "off on outing to get cider and Toblerone" was a distraction technique to allow OP to get something for him and hide it in bottom of big shopping bag!

piprabbit · 14/12/2010 14:01

Go to Tesco.
Buy books, DVDs, tiaras, hair decorations, small cars and trucks, half price toys and craft materials. Put wrapping paper in trolley.
Pay at checkout, come home, job done.

suzikettles · 14/12/2010 14:13

Quite a few places do order online and collect instore - eg Sainsbury if you have a big one with toys etc nearby, and John Lewis and Argos like NG said.

Then get someone else to collect.

OnlyWantsOne · 14/12/2010 14:18

Id love to use Amazon Prime - but i need suggestions as to what to get them, Ideally, DD would love a key board / guitar / microphone but I cant find one and the one from argos is sold out

We have the baby Grand piano and it is great - both DD(6yo) and DS (2.5yo) play with it all the time.

kateecass · 14/12/2010 14:51

I remember 10day baby brain, not sure it has even gone now DD is 2.4 yo.

Some ideas for you (I have been buying for 4.5 DS, 2.4 DD, 6 year old goddaughter, 6 year old and 2.5 year old nephew and 3 year old friends daughter. I think that covers all the kids you have to shop for too.

4 year old boy ideas
paper jamz guitar here
bakugan (tescos)
Ben 10 figures (tesco)
Ben 10 watch
same stomp rocket as above
lego star wars (tesco/amazon)
toy story lego (tesco/amazon)
toy story dvd (tesco/amazon)
how to train your dragon dvd (tesco/amazon)

2 year old boy
cars, hotwheels, hotwheels set)
dressing up (builder, pirate, policeman etc)
dvd (bob the builder, chuggington etc)

2 year old girl
fairy dressing up set (got it for 3 year old friend too)
tea set
peppa pig backpack
sparkly shoes (tesco)
PJs
Hairbands, clips, bead necklace

4 year old DD
I usually buy hair accessories, book or craft supplies when DS goes to a girls party.
We got DD a Le Van doll's house but it'd be good for a 4 year old too. It's a bit £££ but it's all we're getting DD apart from her stocking.
Don't know if Paper Jamz guitar is too boyish for your DD. Have seen keyboard etc in ELC.

I haven't had any trouble with slow delivery but I'm in Manchester.

Hope that helps my brain nearly melted getting all the ideas for the kids from us and family but I have got it cracked now.

My DH is getting a coffee grinder but that's probably no use to you. He might need coffee though with a 10 day baby!!
Play.com do vouchers too and DH can never have enough itunes vouchers.

OnlyWantsOne · 14/12/2010 14:55
