He is into wine but has bought himself lots this year - he doesn't spend a lot of money on anything else. Bought lots of clothes on a recent trip so doesn't need those. House awash with paper so no mag subs.

He likes music/comedy but whenever asked he says he isn't fussed about seeing it live.

WE both love eating out for dinner but don't go v often anymore - less organised, more tired, and we enjoy cooking.

other interests - cricket. I haven't a clue about cricket. he doesn't play, just watches.

saw one on experience website when I was trawling looking for something for dh last night

CybillLiberty · 13/12/2010 22:42

have your dh's got any old vinyl records? I bought my H those frames that LP's slip into and he's got 4 of his poncey jazz ones on the wall. they look great.

brimfull · 13/12/2010 22:43

well they're in the loft
suppose I could hawl my arse up there when I get the xmas tree out

can you sense I can't be arsed

but good idea cyb

titferbrains · 13/12/2010 22:46

oh yes love those frames, but he doesn't have any vinyl. has an ipod but not fussy about music, I update it for him when I can be arsed or about every 6 months...

GGirl would like something a bit more immediate.

Books - he only reads non-fiction really. So currently on Blair book, and has read the obama books, piers morgan on holiday, etc.

At this rate it will have to be a framed pic of our DD - he is besotted with her. Ooh maybe that's it? Any father/2yo DD activities I could arrange?

My DH is really into wine - this year he's getting a subscription to decanter magazine, and another decanter - last year he got two of a thingy that you put into the top of the decanter or glass that aerates the wine, google or amazon wine aerator and you'd find it, which he loves.
HTH

titferbrains · 13/12/2010 22:52

oh we saw the aerator thing, does it really work? he thought it might be a gimmick - not insulting you or anything, and I'll admit he didn't look at it very closely!

he already has decanter sub, sigh.

I've got dp a cooking lesson at out local Indian restaurant - he'll spend an evening learning how to make the dish of his choice from scratch. Maybe worth checking if any of your local restaurants do the same?

brimfull · 13/12/2010 22:57

seeker that is a brilliant idea!

stainesmassif · 13/12/2010 23:09

are you near any michelin starred restaurants? booking a night at the fat duck for example would be a great experience for a food lover

Simbacatlives · 13/12/2010 23:11

If he wants nothing then get nothing. I want nothing but every year my loving extended family don't listen and waste their money on piles of stuff that I don't want and won't use.

People who say that they want nothing actually mean it!

mollymawk · 13/12/2010 23:14

I second Simba - is getting nothing an option? He might be quite happy with a nice card (I would).

Alternatively, I have bought for my cricket-fan uncle various DVDs of past cricketing events (Ashes 2005 etc. Unless he isn't English in which case that would be a terrible present...).

titferbrains · 13/12/2010 23:24

yes perhaps need to not worry so much. He is very happy with life generally I think! But might try to get us a night at Fat duck or similar....

thanks for nice suggestions.
