We have bought a new, bigger tree this year and our previous gold star isn't really up to the job.

What do you have for the top of your tree and where did you get it?

we have a leprechaun on ours Hmm

FoundWanting · 08/12/2010 17:59

We have a paper robin on ours. It was a pop-up Christmas card to me from DS1 when he was 6 weeks old - clever lad!

dinkystinky · 08/12/2010 17:59

A fairy - she's 10 years old and looking a bit worse for wear and is probably a dipsomaniac as no matter what we do she always ends up at a tilt with her halo askew but she's our drunken fairy Grin

A star from garden centre (the sort that does nice xmas decorations).

Its too big really.

JustKeepSparkling · 08/12/2010 18:01

Hmm, not really providing me with solutions here!!

A leprechaun? I'm Irish so could go with that but not sure Dh & the boys would be convinced.:)

We have a star that I made out of fuse wire when we first got married. I'd be quite happy to buy something new but think dh is a bit sentimental.

JustKeepSparkling · 08/12/2010 18:05

Aww, we are totally sentimental about all the tat treasures we've collected over the years, but the star isn't one of them so room for a new one Xmas Smile

I think the robin sounds lovely BTW.

When I was a girl, we had a robin decoration with real feathers, unfortunately not on the top of the tree, we foolishly placed it low and cat-accessible. Whoops, poor robin!

A glittery gold star. Xmas Grin

MumInBeds · 08/12/2010 18:27

The Knitted Character (from Harry Hill). Blush

A small turquoise dragon with velcro-together paws. He usually hugs the top of the tree quite well.

RobynLou · 08/12/2010 18:56

this little lady would be rather lovely...

currently we have a badger dressed as a fairy at the top of ours...

JingleBelleDameSansMerci · 08/12/2010 19:00

We have an angel. Quite a fancy one with a china face and all in white and gold. Sounds ghastly written down but it's rather lovely...

SNOWmami · 08/12/2010 19:14

The Christmas Chicken Xmas Grin

Came from Thorntons with chocolate eggs in it, I think Xmas Confused

a Gold star from Georg Jensens

like this one but in gold

I love it but it has special meaning as it is from Denmark (as am I)

JustKeepSparkling · 08/12/2010 19:19

Thanks, hmm Robyn not sure she's really my 'style' as such.

I'd quite like a nice fairy i think, not scary-eyes though.

A lovely star made from cardboard, wooden sticks and cotton, and sprayed gold. My mum made it when she was a teenager (in about 1960).

Mum never had a Christmas Tree when she was a child (I'm guessing it wasn't as common as it is now); her parents said they would get one but she'd have to do the decorations herself. As you can guess, she did a proper job, and a few bits and pieces have survived to this day!

A very battered fairy
