Games for 6/7 year old

Any recommendations for board games for my DS who is almost 7. Thank you.

How about guess who extra, uno and connect 4 .. none of which are really board games strictly speaking but are all quite good!

My DS, just 7, likes Monopoly, chess, Jenga and have got him Uno for Christmas.

My 5 yr old DS and 7 yr old DD like Junior monopoly, junior scrabble and pictureka.

can I suggest you skip Cluedo Junior - it is much more complicated than the adult version, leaves me and the DC confused every time.

On recommendations from MN I have asked family to get Blokus and Carcassonne for nearly 7 y/o DS, and Bananagrams is coming as well, I think.

I've bought Monopoly Junior for my 6 yr old DS - its currently half price in Argos (£6.49), and has great reviews.

How does Monopoly Junior vary from the normal version?

From what i can tell it is much simpler and quicker - has a fairgroud theme. The money is in £1 notes I think.

Cadoo/Cranium Junior

Monopoly Jr is based around a funfair ad players buy the rides rather than houses. The money demoniations are lower, making the maths easier. The game is simpler too and therefore lasts a much shorter period of time. It is always popular here.

iheartdusty - really? DD and her friends really enjoy it. We have found it quite simple to play.

Lots of Orchard games might hit the spot.

What about Rush Hour by Thinkfun?

Brainbox quiz games, Djeco have some great card games as do Gameloft.

My nearly 6 year old loves Zoo Am I? Was very cheap from tesco and involves them asking questions to work out which animal is stuck in their headband...

Also Ravensburger's Labyrinth. They do different versions including a Disney one and it is good introduction to strategic thinking type games.

Rush hour is good, but more a puzzle than a board game.

Ravensburger do lots of good board games for that age group. DD liked Cat and Mouse and Rivers Roads and Rails (which is a lot more fun and less 'educational' than their blurb makes out :) )
