DS is an angel in his (first ever) preschool nativity - I love this Grin, he's not so keenSad.

So, white sheet and tinsel? But how to make it not too girlie...?

White large t shirt white trousers/jeans tinsel on head. Its the kindest way Grin

PigeonPie · 24/11/2010 12:14

Oooh, I'll be watching this for ideas. My DS1 (5) is an angel in his production too!

gillybean2 · 24/11/2010 13:11

White sheet, tinsel, leather jacket -hells angel

Or give him a nice big beard - so he feels manly

Or go with this look

If there's major issues because angels are 'girls' you simply say that not all angels can be girls because boys, dads, grandpas do go to heaven too after all...

Ah now I know the answer to this, as DD (4) is an angel this year and have been trawling Google.

If you google angel tabard or angel top, those are the best bet. Wear with normal trousers under for a suitably Gabriel look. There was a good top only on eBay the other day, its gone now but I am sure there are more out there.

Thank you for ideas - sorry for delay, have been at work.

Now can turn my attention to the little angel! I'm loving the idea of the hell's angel but not sure how that would go down at fairly straightlaced CoE preschoolGrin. I'm off to google angel tabard (mainly because I love the word tabard!). That might just work 'cos he's not keen on dressing up. God knows(!) how I'm going to get him to keep his halo on......

The annoying thing is that for christmas card a few years ago I dressed him as the perfect christmas angel (2 months old - pfbBlush) See profile pic for evidence. If only it was that simple this time...

PigeonPie will keep you posted as to how I get on - let me know if you come up with anything.

dts were angels last year and dd worn a white dress, wings and a halo, ds2 wore cream cropped linen trousers, white tshirt, wings and a halo they were nearly 3.

DS2 this year has been promoted to a king Wink and dd is a star.

AsYouWish · 24/11/2010 19:29

Right. Have been googling. It's all a bit too fancy.

Think I'm might go with Tikitikitembos idea re big white t-shirt and tinsel halo.

BUT, he's just mentioned he wants wings (but obv. not fairy wings) so I get to let my creative juices flow after all.......Grin. Am thinking tin foil or maybe gold paint.....?????

Any chance you could make a tabard out of a white pillowcase, over jeans/t shirt? Or else jeans, t shirt and wings - perhaps google a pic of the bloke who was in the toothfairy film to show him. No frills there!

AvengingGerbil · 24/11/2010 19:43

My DS ripped off his wings and wept 'I'm not an angel I'm a railway engine' in his first nativity.

Don't presume that he'll co-operate!

cheeseytoastie · 24/11/2010 19:43

I second the white pillow case and tinsel round the waist, did that last year for my DS. He quite liked the fairy wings he was given!

amatteroflifeanddeath · 24/11/2010 20:10

When DS was an angel he wore a pillowcase tabbard, cardboad wings tied on with elastic and a feather boa belt and halo

AsYouWish · 24/11/2010 22:09

Oh no, don't say that AvengingGerbil! I've just spent 20mins with DS who did not want to go to sleep and definitely does not want to be a "fairy" - wants to be a king.

Having said that he doesn't want a crown eitherConfused.

I've been soooo excited about it too and v nearly cried when i heard him singing away in a manger to himself earlier. Kids eh?

Liking the pillowcase idea. I'm thinking/hoping that if I get him involved in buying the tinsel and making the wings maybe, just maybe, he'll come round??? [optimistic emoticon]

WINGS, big flapppy attached at shoulders and wrists, white sheet with tinsel edging WINGS.

pillowcase tabard works pretty well to cover up what ever trews and T-shirt they happen to be wearing.

or at least that what worked for my 3 yr old last year. He was a very energetic angel flying/ flapping his way up to the front of church.

gillybean2 · 25/11/2010 00:46

Feather wings here in white as well as black

I made wings one year from carboard covered in silver foil. Took absolutely ages to dry though and were a bit floppy plus the issue of how to hold them in place!

My ds insisted he wanted to be a fairy at playschool one year (hence the wings). I think because it was the only non speaking part - they did a dance instead.
I made him a nice little burgendy outfit; waistcoat with black patches on it and a little acorn cup type hat with a black twisty pipecleaner out the top and black trousers underneath. He looked cute but was most unimpressed when other parents said what a cute elf/pixie he was. 'No I'm a fairy!' he informed them. Funny how kids are Grin

TeeBee · 26/11/2010 11:39

How about some cool shades and spikey hair to go with it? Maybe write something on his t-shirt (e.g. winging it). I'd go for cool angel if it was one of mine.
