Any ideas for only six yr old dd who doesn't want anything!

Starting to worry a little about what to get dd for xmas this year.
She doesn't want anything at all! I tried to get her to write her list out for FC but she just ended up writing one for ds (he wants every toy ever made)
She doesn't play with dolls/soft toys really, hasn't got a ds or wii (and not planning on getting one), enjoys reading but we have tons of books, likes clothes (but so do I so she's probably got too many already Blush, likes make-up but already has some, she just doesn't play with toys that much instead uses stuff from round the house to make a den or whatever. I'm sure I could rustle up enough ideas for a nice stocking full but we have lots of relatives who'll all be asking shortly what to get and I'm a bit stumped.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

does she like music? how about some CDs, or story CDs - my DDs (7 and 5) love them.

How about a cheap digital camera she can take her own photos on.

My DD1 loves craft stuff, and drawing so gets through endless supplies of paper, pens and crafty bits.

piggy bank to save pocket money in.

some nice decorative things for her room - like pictures, book ends, fairy lights, nice hooks or mirrors etc...

I hope this helps a little - I think you should be very proud of the fact that you have a little girl who doesn't want endless amounts of stuff. Unfortunately we don't have that problem in this house!

Are you absolutely sure it's because she doesn't want anything and not because she's testing Santa to see if he really knows just what she wants.

I only ask because my ds did this once; wouldn't tell me what was on his list & simply said he had already told Santa...

I would get along to a grotto fast and see if she mentions anything to the man himself.

Otherwise I suggest a jigsaw puzzle, puzzle books, annual of some kind, craft stuff, board games (junior monopoly, junior scrabble are good), cd player and/or story cds, sunglasses, complete Mr Men series.

Crafty stuff is a definate for my girl...and hello kitty that seems to everywhere at the moment!!

alarkaspree · 23/11/2010 02:47

Does she have bike, roller skates, scooter, that kind of thing?

Tickets to see a show?

SofiaAmes · 23/11/2010 05:22

Sounds a bit like my dd at that age. Dressing up shoes (glittery with heels) went over really well. I think we gave her a bike (with extra glittery streamers on the handle bars) one year. One of her favorite presents was a mini size tea set made of china. CD's, as someone else suggested. A boom box (old used one in our case) was one of dd's other favorites. Disney dress up clothes. More makeup even though she has plenty. Belts. Furry boots. Pillow Pet.

sylvannian stuff? - lots and lots of box sets so useful for future birthdays and Christmases

Just got my 6yr old dd the Playmobil Pony Farm for her b'day - huge hit! Also getting her a secret diary with a lock - she is giddy as a kipper....

My 7 yo DD is exactly the same again this year - she was last year and I was stumped!! In the end I bought both dd and ds tickets to go and see The Lion King in London in between Xmas and New Year and they loved it! We had a day out, used tesco vouchers for Pizza Express and DD loved spening some of her Xmas money in Covent Garden (even though it was so expensive she liked buying it there!)
This year I've bought her lots of the Hello Kitty little shops and houses as they're not expensive as she's already got a HK mini shop which she has used to build a village around out of shoe boxes! So kinda figured she'd like more!!
Also got her the HK secret pillow, crafty things and the Just Dance wii game - DGPs etc have bought her Build a bear vouchers and a BAB wardrobe for her Helllo Kitty's multitude of clothes!
Hope that helps too!

I'd love it if she'd start collecting something like sylvanian families, playmobil or barbie, but she has a few bits of each and tbh she hardly ever plays with them.

I guess my biggest problem is that we own a shop which sells all kinds of pretty girlie things that would be perfect for her except that she's already seen them all so it wouldn't be much of a surprise (and might be a bit suspicious that father christmas seems to do all his shopping at our shop...)

Glittery high heels though, I think she would like as she does love her shoes!
She likes music too so maybe a cheap MP3 player would be a good one.

Thanks for the good ideas, you've definitely inspired me.

I would recommend a boom box instead of a mp3 player for a 6 year old. The mp3 players get broken easily and require adult intervention for just about everything. And then you also have to worry about them listening to the music too loudly through the headphones.

FreudianSlimmery · 24/11/2010 06:52

If she likes making dens what about a tent?

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 24/11/2010 12:01

CD player was a hit last year in our house, with a couple of "pop princess" type CDs- we like girls aloud in our house!

This year is a digital camera along with a photo album- along with the rest of the girly crap we get! May buy her some little heels too, she is desperate.

Sops · 24/11/2010 22:01

Just got heels from Next today- I want some too they are so pretty! Also got orb factory sticky mosaic kits which are well reviewed on amazon (and I got 24% off at our local toy shop too).
The reason I fancied an MP3 rather than boom box is that CDs get scratched so easily, I thought I could get her some cheap speakers for the MP3 to bypass the headphones prob. Spotted pop princess 2010 album too- perfect!

glittery high heels?

zandy · 24/11/2010 22:28

Baking stuff. Apron. Board game, Junior Scrabble. Uno.

Roller skates.

Cuddly toy/hot water bottle.

Marne · 25/11/2010 13:10

Dd1 (6) has wrote a list, she is a bit of a tom boy so doesnt play ith dolls (appart from moxie girls on because she wants to colour in their clothes). She has asked for:

Guess who extra
Hot wheels/toy garage
Club penguin membership
Moxie girls car (which she is not getting as it has bad reviews on Amazon)
Knex
Lego

I have found it tricky this year to find things for her that are not just plastic tat. DD2 is far easier to buy for as she is 4 and into lots of things (and she's girly).
