Recommendations for a really nice hamper

Dh and I would like to give/send a really nice hamper to his dad and stepmum for Christmas. They've had a really rough year as dh's stepmum has been diagnosed with a major illness, meaning lots of medication and the loss of most of their interests and hobbies.

She's not got a big appetite at the moment and cannot drink, so we thought that some really nice little treats would be suitable.

Can anyone recommend a company, as I don't really want to just pluck one off the internet. The M&S and John Lewis ones look a bit too rich/boozy or just not very exciting for the price.

Any thoughts would be very gratefully received Smile.

can you not make one of things that you know they love? treat type things that they would not normally buy, like posh tea and coffee, nice jam and chutney, yummy chocs, nice crackers and biscuits, pate etc. all arranged nicely in one of the hessian shopping bags from tesco. i have done this, and it was a huge hit, did for my dad last year with a nice cheeseboard set, bottle of port, whole stilton, and a load of pieces of nice cheese, chutney and crackers. he loved it (and my dad is a nightmare to buy for)

Thanks cherry I was hoping to, but there's nowhere around here to buy posh stuff!

However, you've given an idea. I could introduce them to the joys of Welsh produce. They won't be able to pronounce any of it but what the hell Grin!

Our local M&S let you make you own one. You can pick whatever you want and the then arrange it in the hamper and wrap it. We got them for DP's cousins one year, it was great fun picking all the stuff out!! I think there was a minimum spend. It would mean you could get stuff you know they would like, or smaller/mini things.
