Ideas for 7 y.o DD's stocking

I'm really struggling to think of things. I've got loads of ideas for her brothers but nothing for her. She's not particularly 'into' anything like Sylvanians or Polly Pocket, and she has more pencils, hair clips & notebooks than I can count!

What are you putting in your DD's stocking if she's about 6, 7 or 8?

Sparkly socks
Hand cream
Impluse spray... she likes it!
Barbie bits
Keyring...She collects them
Annual
Banana...|She doesn't do satsumas!
Tiny box of celebrations

What about Fashion Angels???

Takver · 12/11/2010 11:49

DD is 8 - I'm hoping that the Works still have sets of fabric paint pens & sets of glass paint pens cheap (they did last time I was there but I was with dd, luckily she didn't see them!)

If so she will have a set of each in her stocking, plus a plain t-shirt to decorate.

Then a couple of bits of playmobil we've got tucked away, a tangerine, a sugar mouse, maybe a chocolate hedgehog or something (they have very cute little choc. animals in the sweetshop), and a few nuts in their shells tucked in.

If no paints, probably a Horrible Science annual.

My 7-year-old dds are having:

Satsuma
Chocolate coins
Christmas socks
New toothbrush
Gel pen or two
Notebook
Swimming goggles
Stickers
small playmobil/lego set
Bath pearl

earwicga · 12/11/2010 11:54

Books.

faileddoctor · 12/11/2010 14:22

OK, as a foreigner, enlighten me, but how do you fit annuals in stockings? I got them the standard size I have seen in various shops.

NorbertDentressangle · 12/11/2010 14:27

The last year or two I've been trying to buy stuff that is used up, eaten or useful rather than just more clutter!

Favourites have been:

-Astronaut food (from Hawkins Bazaar) -Jar of Marshmallow Fluff (OK its crap nutritionally but great for a once a year treat!) -Bath bombs or bubble bath -a fun T shirt -slipper socks -can of squirty foamy soap (although I can't find this for love nor money this year)

FloozyintheJacuzzi · 12/11/2010 14:29

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone. She's just getting to a stage where nice smelling shower stuff might go down well.

faileddoctor, I often go for annuals too, I just wrap them and prop them up against the bulging stocking.

What are Fashion Angels?

faileddoctor - you either make or get your aunt/mum to make a huge one or you wrap big things and leave them under the stocking at end of the bed.

For my DD age 6 she is getting the normal satsuma, choc coins, nuts etc but present wise she is getting:

Glitter nail varnish
Lip salve (strawberry flavour not glossy)
sequel book to what she is reading now
DVD
P.J's
socks
polly pocket bits
Sure there are a few more bits but can't remember off hand.

Problem is she has just found them and so now i am in a bit of a quandry as to whether i give them and say "santa" needed ideas or if i buy different and leave these for her birthday in June where hopefully she will have forgotten seeing them.

character socks pants and battery toothbrush.
whoopee cushion (her favourite)
diary with a lock and key
disney princess watch.
cheer leading pom poms.
yo yo
bead set
bracelet
hair accessories
book (from the series she's reading)
smelly gel pens
small jigsaw (in a tin from M&S)

ForMashGetSmash · 13/11/2010 09:11

I got mine a "Father Christmas Pez" the other day....I will put in a nice hairbrush, a pineapple...she loved the fact that Lola from Charlie and Lola asked for one....and also little hair bobbles, soaps and socks.

CakeCuresAll · 13/11/2010 09:23

Same ideas as above really.

I always put socks and chocolates in and try to include something crafty or something cheap and tacky that she's asked for and I've said no to. Last year it was those packets of bouncing putty and fake dog poo - she knows there is no way mummy would buy these for her.... She is 10 in the new year and I think this will be the last year she believes :(

Manda25 · 13/11/2010 10:35

Try Yellow moon

harecare · 13/11/2010 10:39

For mash gets smash - Is that where my then 2 year old got her pineapple idea for Christmas last year? I thought it was her being original and funny, ah well!

ChippyMinton · 13/11/2010 10:55

nail varnish
lipgloss
hairbrush
books
giant tube of sweeties
mini box of cereal
muesli bar
blutack
flannel
toothbrush & paste
lego minifigure or keyring
dvd

she would love a pineapple, but has actually requested some plums.

LadyInPink · 13/11/2010 11:27

Oh the whoopee cushion, a definite fave in our family - tho I would never buy one (it's all Santa's idea)

Forgot these too from my earlier list:

A folding mirror (Hello Kitty)
A keyring (collects them on her schoolbag
A 'build a bear' soft toy guitar as she is learning guitar at school

Love the idea of blutack (or sticky tack as she calls it) as she gets through loads of it.

Takver · 13/11/2010 16:08

Well, I just did my stocking shopping -

Fabric paint pens
Glass paint pens (both £1.99 for a set)
3 x plain t-shirts (though I had to resort to the charity shop as no-where had plain ones at this time of year! found some suitable ones though)
Chocolate mini mouse, hedgehog & santa
Pair of very fluffy gloves
New hair ribbons (christmassy ribbon) for her bunches

Which should look nice all put together

Depending on where we are will probably add a multi pack of mini cereal boxes

Ladyinpink, you can buy packs with 5 different colours of 'blu' tack, always a hit round here, though it is kind of the 8 y/o equivalent of chewing-gum, I find the stuff everywhere

LadyInPink · 13/11/2010 16:37

Ooh thanks Takver - looked for some but only found some in office supplies on line costing £50 so no way! It is nightmare stuff though like you say, you find it everywhere and it's impossible to get out of carpets. Hate the greasy marks it leaves on the walls too.

Takver · 13/11/2010 16:42

I get it in the local post office, so that's not much help unfortunately!

LadyInPink · 13/11/2010 16:57

I will try our P.O and maybe Wilkinsons too - thanks Smile
