We do a secret santa in my family (makes life much easier and cheaper we have a huge family) and I pulled out a young couple with two young dc I need to do a joint Christmas present for between 40-60 but as close to £50 as possible any ideas?

I ma trying to come up with something similar for my brother and SIL.
In have been thinking along the lines of tea for 2 or something similar.
I have seen a couple for about £50-£60 that do a glass of champagne and tea for 2.

I thought this becuase this is something dh and I would like really the opertunity to get out just the 2 of us but we don't do it enough. We would if someone bought us that though and would love it we just don't spend money on ourselves enough like that.

A couple of really good board games? Generally a more grown up one would be around £30-40, kids ones £10-£20 I think.

FlameGrilledMama · 11/11/2010 12:11

I thought about that but they don't drive so would have difficulty getting to one of thoose days out Sad which makes things harder. I might suggest themes next year so we have a rough idea of what sort of thing to get.

We do secret santa too - but this year have agreed not to be so secret - so it's OK to tal to the recipients about what they want. After all, the point of spending more on a single present (rather than lots of small ones) is to get them something they might really like.

Absolute Balderdash is very good for grownups - even quite a lot of people who 'don't like games' seem to enjoy it as it is amusing and not competitive at all.

A cheese box from Neal's Yard dairies?

FlameGrilledMama · 11/11/2010 12:36

How about a cocktail set (including shaker, measures, strainer etc), plus set of cocktail glasses, plus nice cocktail book of recipes?

OhCobblers · 11/11/2010 13:38

Digital radio?
Ipod docking station or related items - have no idea of cost i'm afraid.

Jcee · 11/11/2010 13:44

If they like cooking then how about something like this. It's what I'm buying SIL and family this xmas along with some indian chutneys, wine etc

Second the cheese box idea...last year we bought them a this which they loved

spacecadet1 · 11/11/2010 13:51

what about a nice hamper, you can buy one from lakeland, m&s & loads of other places or you could make your own with a large basket & stuff you know they like

londonmackem · 11/11/2010 16:22

I would prefer something to do. Tickets to go to local themepark/stately home/park, etc. Vocuhers for carluccios or similar

tegan · 11/11/2010 16:57

i have bought sil and her hubby a camcorder from argos which wasabout £50, looks more expensive and i will probably get a sd card to go with it but that will be off ebay for a couple of quid

Scuttlebutter · 11/11/2010 18:39

You can get some quite respectable cases of wine for around £50, especially as there are usually loads of vouchers etc flying around in the run up to Christmas.

How about a cinema gift card, with popcorn?

Family membership of local wildlife trust, National Trust etc if they are into that?

OhCobblers · 11/11/2010 22:30

i second Scuttlebutter's idea of a case of wine.

we've used Majestic for this before (located nationwide and free delivery i think) and they were great.

i'm sure they'd have some good Christmas deals.

FlameGrilledMama · 11/11/2010 23:14

Oh thanks everyone some great ideas here (I am useless) I will have a look and talk to DP and see what he thinks Smile.

Maybe a voucher for a photobook, so they can make their own - think this is what I'm going to get my brother and SIL.

mollymax · 12/11/2010 12:00

My brother gets my dh and I a restaurant voucher most years, and offers to babysit.
It is great to go out for a really nice meal in January, when we are skint after Christmas.
