My DCs have too much already - any tips on how to diplomatically manage the Christmas gift-giving this year so that my house isn't overrun with bulky, noisy stuff. I always tell anyone that asks that books are most appreciated.

Anyone have any wisdom on this and also just pare down the Christmas craziness of writing 100 cards etc..

Amazon wish list!

We've set one up for DS, mostly small toys that don't have batteries. We have a rule of nothing huge/plastic/on wheels and any books gratefully received (obviously)

What about suggesting story cd's, and sticker and puzzle books as well as reading books.

Do you suggest which boook to get? Often it can be difficult to get a 'book' as you don't know what they have already or what they're into. I often suggest a particular annual rather than just a book (horrid henry/simpsons/pixar/gogo crazy bones etc) so people know what to look for.

Also my ds is mad on gogos (small plastic things), so he's getting several packets of those this year, a book to collect the stickers and a box to put the toys in! Are your dc into collecting? You can get football cards and all sorts which aren't expensive, don't take up much room.

And computer games don't take up much space and are of a price that grandparents will get one requested game and not be tempted to buy expensive bulky tat on top Grin
