I know its very early to be talking about this, but I am 40+3 wks pg and VERY bored!

DH loves a bacon sandwhich but I would prefer something lighter and less fatty what with all the rich food that will be consumed over the next 24hrs.

Also means one of us is stuck in the kitchen in the morning when I'd prefer us to be in the living room with the presents and dd

I know some people have croissants but how do you mke sure they are fresh, do you buy them Christmas Eve?

Would love suggestions

We get a Pandora from Lidl. It is like a panetonne but without the fruit. It is such a shape that when you cut it horizontally the slices re star shaped..very pretty. We toast it and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar ( which I think comes with it)It is simple and festive..just right!

i thought we'd have smoked salmon on wheaten bread this year, with bucks fizz. assembled the night before and just brought into living room on christmas morning to eat during present opening...

DCs have coco pops I'll have toast and marmite, DH will just mainline tea until it's time for sherry. Grin

I'm so looking forward to Christmas this year just us 4 at home.

Bacon and egg rolls, but they have to be scotch morning rolls, no other will do. These are always cooked by DH

This tradition was carried on from when i was at home. We would only ever have scotch morning rolls at christmas and very rarely had bacon so was regarded as a treat and was cooked by my dad.

Does anyone have smoked salmon and cream cheese croissants? Delicious.

We have a sort of buffet style breakfast.

Some you can help youself to bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, black pudding, hash browns, pancakes, croissants, scrambled egg, smoked salmon etc.

nappyaddict · 13/12/2010 09:48

Oh and also bagels and cinnamon whirls.

oxocube · 13/12/2010 09:56

Am a bit Confused at how anyone could eat that much on Christmas morning nappy addict when the lunch itself is so filling!! Any other day I would love it but not on Christmas Day!! Unless, of course, you eat at 6 in the evening Wink

Or maybe I am just jealous - I do tea and toast, DH lots of espresso and the kids gorge on selection boxes Grin

oh, oh! Last year I made Nigella's Christmas Morning Muffins, and they were delicious. Think I got the recipe from MN - don't have her book. It's not in Recipes so must have been on a post from someone. I'll try to find it. It uses clementine juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, dried cranberries.

nappyaddict · 13/12/2010 10:06

oxocube We eat at about 4pm as DS is usually in bed by 6pm.

mrstimlovejoy · 13/12/2010 11:27

dd has boiled egg and soldiers
me and dh have pork pie and toast [long standing family tradition]
pot of tea

BornToFolk · 13/12/2010 11:37

DS will be having the cereal from his stocking - I nicked that idea from someone on here. He's normally only allowed porridge or weetabix so he's going to be thrilled with his Cocoa Pops!

I hadn't actually thought about what DP and I are going to eat. Hmm Maybe I'll get some bagels or croissants.

coolascucumber · 13/12/2010 11:46

Breakfast around 10.30am. Kids have chocolate or homemade sausage rolls hot from the oven. Grown ups have scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and cava. Christmas dinner appears at some point between 4pm and 6.30pm depending on how hot the oven feels like being (bit temperamental)

Dexterrocks · 13/12/2010 11:49

We have croissants and pain au chocolat too, with fresh coffee and nice fresh orange juice. It is usually a long time between breakfast and Christmas dinner so we get away with it.
