Ok, obviously by this time of year my children, like many other peoples children, have started telling me what they would like for Xmas.

We decided to book a holiday to EuroDisney as their Xmas present. However, now I kind of disagree with hubby about it being their Xmas present as we would usually have Xmas and then book a holiday in the next year anyway, if that makes sense.

Also, it is something the children haven't asked for but once they get it they will be very chuffed.

So, do I leave it at EuroDisney plus a couple of small presents under the tree (and stockings).Or do I get them what they have asked for as we would have been booking a holiday next year anyway regardless of whether it was Eurodisney.

Hope that all makes sense??! I don't want them to be disappointed at not getting what they have asked for, but then was hoping Eurodisney would make up for it, lol!

They might not get why they aren't having presents when they normally get presents and a holiday.

If it was a trip that was in the Christmas holidays then it would be ok but is this going to be in the summer?

XboxWidow30 · 04/11/2010 10:32

That is what I am thinking.

We usually book a holiday after Xmas for about Mar/Apr time. This year is the first year in 5 years that we are going somewhere different but at the same cost. So its not as if EuroDisney is costing us more than our usual family holiday.

I may have to buy the presents they want too. :)

It is booked for March so not an Xmas trip.

If you're not going until MArh it is difficult to explain the holiday as their Xmas present IME.
If you can afford to give them presents as well as the trip I would do both.

webwiz · 04/11/2010 10:35

I would still buy presents as normal but you could put a piece of paper in an envelope for each of them with "Trip to EuroDisney in April" on it and wrap it up with the presents.

Or March then - xpost!

XboxWidow30 · 04/11/2010 10:37

We can afford to do both. I will do presents I think and then tell them about the Disney trip over Xmas too.

Our 2 dd's haven't asked for expensive presents this year anyway and our 1 yr old has just had his birthday so I ma sure he isn't after alot!, its just the 13 yr old who is the expensive one!

webwiz, I was going to buy a little Disney beanie teddy and put a little note around its neck and wrap it up!

That's sounds like a great idea Xbox!

I thought you were going on holiday at Christmas, as you aren't and would be going on holiday in the new year anyway, I don't get why this year will be different.
