I want to send h and kids to his mothers and spend the afternoon with a tin of roses on my lap watching telly by the light of the Chrstmas tree

that makes me go weak its so lovely sounding

PennyDreadful · 03/11/2010 17:18

In my house, my parents. ILs depending on how ill their parents are at the time. New Year here too with lots more family.

Travelled loads last few Christmases and put our feet down this year saying everyone can come to us ...this includes weekends up to Christmas in December too

sobloodystupid · 03/11/2010 17:19

Officially told both parents we are not moving out of the house! Yipee! Feels like xmas has come early Smile

mogs0 · 03/11/2010 17:28

We have to arrange it in August!!

We usually all end up at Mum's house. Occasionally to my sister's and twice we've been to Mum's friends' but I refused to ever go there again for Christmas after the last time (because I'm a grumpy arse if I don't feel I can relax on Christmas day!).

I used to love Christmas when I was growing up because there'd always be loads of people staying and a really great atmosphere.

I still love it now but since ds and I moved nearer to all the family it feels more stressful trying to arrange things.

everyone to mine this year ,my mum is working xmas day so its my turn.10 people so far,if my other sister decides to come ,it will be 16.

Debate started and finished, we are off to the inlaws as per usual. I do love it there but think I will do it here next year.

This year we only have dS as dds and dsd are off to other parents and Bil and SIL aren't going as they are expecting pfb in early January.

Borisismyhousespider · 03/11/2010 17:45

It's supposed to be my turn! but we might well have just moved house, so I could well be voting for a new venue! that doesn't involve boxes and me not knowing where anything is!

mogs0 · 03/11/2010 17:46

bigchris - I so agree about EE!!

AnnieLobeseder · 03/11/2010 17:48

Every year I am grateful for having married a Jew!! Grin

lillybloom · 03/11/2010 17:57

Its my house every year with both sets of parents. I love it :)

bigchris · 03/11/2010 18:00

Annie - my dad is Jewish
but him and all his family still did Xmas so still xmas dinner wrangling Grin
think they love the family/ presents aspect of it Grin

OP posts:
bigchris · 03/11/2010 18:02

Lilly - do you all live in the sane town? It's having them to stay and us having to travel puts the dampeners on it for me
I want to sleep in my own bed
Xmas morning shoving the turkey in at six watching mil have a fag in the back garden is not my idea of a blissful Xmas morning Grin

We're going to my parents for christmas dinner. We need a big proper family christmas this year. Going to visit FIL in the morning. Then having everyone here for new years eve. I cant wait.

AnnieLobeseder · 03/11/2010 18:04

OK, I'll expand - I'm grateful DH is jewish AND his family all live in Israel, where Christmas is just another working day. ('twas VERY odd going into uni on Christmas day, and kids not knowing what a Santa hat was, I'll tell ya!)

Now if only my parents hadn't divorced, there would only be the one option!

Since DH's parents divorced too, if they did do Christmas, there would be 4 options... [mind boggles and shuts down]

bigchris · 03/11/2010 18:04

If they all lived close I'd happily have them for Xmas dinner it's the three nights I can't stand

bigchris · 03/11/2010 18:05

Most of the family have made our minds up for us - got a text from MIL two days ago 'What time will we be having Xmas dinner? SIL wants to take all the boys sledging'
Excuse me? All what boys? SIL has 1!

nameymcnamechange · 03/11/2010 18:10

It was decided for us before Christmas last year.
