I have 5 dc's, boy 9, boy 7, girl 3, boy 2 and girl almost 1.

Our house already resembles a toy shop & I have had a major clear out too!

I am totally stuck as to what to get them for christmas, the boys only had their birtdays last month, dd is 1 in a few weeks and still need to get presents for that. I really don't want to get them things just for the sake of it though.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions at all, I'll take anything, getting desperate now Confused

TIA

Storage units? lol - I am being serious !!

Duvet covers ? slippers? dressing gowns?

Something shared for the garden if you have one?
Bikes

When I have nothing left to buy I always go for the more practical!

welshandproud · 01/11/2010 11:56

abgirl · 01/11/2010 12:29

How about a family trip somewhere around Christmas with some money to spend in the shop? Depends on your budget but we did a family day out to London recently with a boat trip and Tower visit which we all enjoyed.

a great gift would be an annual pass to somewhere they love. we have one to a local house with an adventure play area which they love going to. this then means that they know they're going to get to go loads - but it's also a present for you as it sorts all those bored sunday afternoons! (if you do tesco vouchers have a look on the deals as you can get all sorts of annual passes) i know it sounds like a boring thing to open so i think you would have to make it interesting - like a multi layer present with hints inside each layer or a treasure hunt to find the annual pass (not the real one obviously but something you have produced with photo's of them at the place) another idea i've heard from others - rather than an annual pass - is to give them a trip to disneyland paris as their present! you can go for a weekend for about £300 odd , just a thought!

Thank you for all the suggestions (have name changed!) Really appreciate it.

We did storage units for b'days last year and for xmas last year we did bedding, beanbags and dressing gowns etc. They also have newish bikes apart from young ones as too young for them.

Garden not very big and got them a playslide/activity thing in the summer & they have scooters/skateboards.

IL's bought us all Merlin annual passes for their birthdays this year sooooo this is why I'm so stuck Confused

Love the Disneyland Paris idea but only dp has a passport so would need to buy 5 kids and 1 adult. Just seen the price of them Shock Seriously, that much?!

Do they have a Nintendo Wii?
They could all play together, if you get some extra controllers (apart from smallest one). You can get some fab family games.

Marne · 02/11/2010 10:35

Both my dd's have birthdays not long after x-mas, we are buying them a climbing frame between them.

A nintendo wii would be good but not for the youngest one.

Luggage / backpacks
New bike helmets
Kite
Clothes
Slippers / slipper socks
Flip Flops for summer
New swimming costumes
Sleeping bag
Roll out fouton mat (bed in a bag) for older boys (for friends coming over or they stay out)

erm....

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 02/11/2010 15:26

Towel each

erm...

Is there anything oming on at the cinema/theatre? Could be basis of a present for the older ones at least?

My DD has loved her subscription to the cbeebies magazine, sine she was 2.5. 6 pr 12 months subs to a omic ould be a good gift - and they get read/coloured in and then go out, so no long term storage issues :)

Jammyrella · 02/11/2010 15:59

sorry, letter C playing up!

LelloLorry · 02/11/2010 16:06

Agree with the nintendo wii!
A wii between them and perhaps take them to Game/other game shop for them to choose a game each?
Or, you choose the games. You can get them for around £10 (give or take a couple of £) ea second hand, and I doubt the kids would know the difference.

Also, there are loads of extras for it to wrap up, so if you get a racing game you can get a wheel to put on the remote.

Colour cases for the remotes as well.

BonzoDooDah · 02/11/2010 16:06

Books, books books
or PJs with characters on?

Theantsgomarching · 02/11/2010 16:10

Outdoor swing/slide/climbing frame if you have the space? or trampoline

Do they like being outdoors and anything to do with nature? One idea might be a family RSPB Wildlife Explorer Membership I?m afraid I am a bit biased as I do some work with the RSPB but it?s a great wildlife club aimed at kids up to 12. So would be fine for your eldest three, although maybe a bit old for the youngest two. However they do a deal where you can get membership for all kids at one address for £25 for the year. On joining they get a membership pack specific to their age with posters, stickers, log book, membership card, certificate etc ? so a few things to wrap up - a magazine 6 times a year, chance to take part in competitions and wildlife holidays plus free entry to more than 100 RSPB nature reserves around the UK.

They also get a free gift of either a wildlife stationery set (crayons, pencils, stickers, notebook etc) or a wildlife organiser with diary, notebook, address book, jokes etc! As the membership lasts a full year it?s something to do after Christmas ? family days out - plus very little extra to store :)!
