Gingerbread men (big sized ones with dolly mixtures for decorations)

Ginger cake (in the shape of a gingerbread man - muffin cases from John Lewis, yay!)

Star shaped muffins

Snowman soup in a kids mug

Reindeer food

Candy cane reindeer decorations

Reindeer poo (think chocolate crispies with raisins and choc chips)

Part of the money goes to the school, part to charity. I don't want to make it all so cheap we end up with no profit!

Totally depends what the income of your customers is. Far worse than not making much profit is not bringing any money in because you've overpriced.

Our cake sale prices are 30p for a cake, £1 for 4, if that helps.

wahwahwah · 28/10/2010 14:58

They have money - all reasonably well off!

you need to figure out how much it'll all cost you, then add whatever you think is a reasonable profit. There's no point in deciding on a price without determining how much each item will cost.

The kids' mugs for the snowman soup, for example, are likely to make that more expensive. But, on the other hand, people are getting the mug to keep.

50p for Gingerbread men
£1 for Cake
30p for Reindeer Poo
50p for Soup (or £2 if you get to keep mug!)
50p bag of Reindeer food

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:03

Durham's prices. Any more and I wouldn't spend any money

wahwahwah · 28/10/2010 15:04

I am tooooo lazy to work out the pennies.

For example, I have some food bags from Lakeland. Do I work out price per unit or spread over the number of items (it bag of 50 bought for 30 cakes)?

My brain hurts!

I was just wondering what the market would bear.

Gingerbread men (big sized ones with dolly mixtures for decorations) 60p

Ginger cake (in the shape of a gingerbread man - muffin cases from John Lewis, yay!) £1

Star shaped muffins 60p

Snowman soup in a kids mug 60p

Reindeer food 50p

Candy cane reindeer decorations 50p

Reindeer poo (think chocolate crispies with raisins and choc chips) 50p

Less in DS's school, but if comfortable and no-one would be excluded, that would be fine.

DamselInDisgrace · 28/10/2010 15:19

Once you've bought all the stuff, add it up, then you know how much money you need to make to break even. You can then figure out how much to charge for each item on that basis. I wouldn't worry to much about the exact price per item of bags and such like. It's the overall cost that you need to exceed.

DurhamDurham · 28/10/2010 15:25

Best to keep it cheap and sell a lot rather than over pricing yourself out of the market.
I could just eat a gingerbread now Grin

Lauriefairycake · 28/10/2010 15:28

The bakery near me charges £3.00 for a large gingerbread man Shock

I would pay :

Gingerbread men (big sized ones with dolly mixtures for decorations) £1.50

Ginger cake (in the shape of a gingerbread man - muffin cases from John Lewis, yay!) - £2.50

Star shaped muffins £1.50

Snowman soup in a kids mug £1.50

Reindeer food £2.00 if the bag was pretty

Candy cane reindeer decorations - £2.00

Reindeer poo (think chocolate crispies with raisins and choc chips) - £2.50 - again if the bag was pretty.

Laurie you are much more generous than me!!

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 28/10/2010 15:37

Gingerbread men (big sized ones with dolly mixtures for decorations) £1

Ginger cake (in the shape of a gingerbread man - muffin cases from John Lewis, yay!) depending on size £1 if small £3.50 if large ( ie victoria sponge size

Star shaped muffins - £1

Snowman soup in a kids mug 50p

Reindeer food £1.50

Candy cane reindeer decorations £2

Charge more for pretty things. If its not selling then just reduce prices!! Charge more to start with, have some ready made price sheets.

Lauriefairycake · 28/10/2010 15:48

It's just insanely expensive round here - we went out for coffee and cake for 2 the other day - it was £11.89 - tbh I don't even raise an eyebrow at the high prices anymore.

But when I went up to Leicester for the evening a couple of years ago it was under a fiver for coffee and cake for two - I looked very strange querying the price with the lady on the till. Grin

jellybeans · 28/10/2010 15:51
