i am stumped! she is 8, and the only thing she likes is Pokemon. The plush toys cost a fortune thats if you can find them, and we are tlaking stupid amounts!!

this is the first year i havent a clue. it almost seems as tho we have 'done' all avenues int he past 4 yrs or so.

she has sylvanian, littlest pet shop, hsm, power rangers, a dolls house, farm, playmobil pirate ship, pet centre, airport, kitty puppy in my pocket and hotels. bike, pram, 300 cuddly toys, a nintendo ds, games, books, badge maker, etcha sketch.

wtf am i going to get her, let alone father xmas, lol.

Meant to say non-magnetic whiteboards are quite inexpensive.

DD is 8 - our thoughts so far

a watch
Magic the Gathering cards (I know she def. wants these)
a desk for her room

other things I know that she would like
a cheap digital camera/video camera
a skateboard

If she likes drawing and pokemon, how about manga drawing book and manga pens etc
You can even get a How to draw Pokemon book

PirateScaredyCat · 28/10/2010 12:51

It is worth paying for these type pens as they colour in beutifully and don't leave brush marks IYSWIM

Well, I just asked my 8 y/o dd what she would like 'if anyone asks', and her suggestions were:

A copy of the Sims computer game
A cookery book 'not for very little children but for cooking proper things'
Another cactus plant (that will NOT be on the list as she already has too many of the damn things cluttering up my kitchen windowsill).

Craft bits & bobs. I once put together a craft box & it was a great pressie. I filled it with things from our hobby shop. It wasn't expensive & lasted for ages. My dd was really busy.

Takver - try the Sam Stern books for easy recipes that aren't aimed at little children.

BalloonSlayer - your dd sounds fab. So nice to see and 8 year old doing 8 year old's things, instead of wanting perfume and make up!

Sorry to whoever suggested it but I think 8 year olds getting make up sets and perfume for Christmas is so wrong (unless it is 'toy' dressing up stuff).

We had the same problem last year with DSS(who was 8 in the time). In the end we gave him some a couple of stocking fillings, and gave him money. We got money off other people.
DH then took him to Henleys in London so that DSS could spend the money he had for Christmas. He absolutely loved it, that had a great day out and he bought a few things he really wanted.

What about something like this for your DD?
