Just booked. We went last year, it's really nice (although the price has increased considerably, £2 each last year)

allstarsprincess · 18/10/2010 16:23

Also booked. DD will love this. I might take a detour through the beauty section on my visit. :)

Do children under 2 get a gift if you take them? Just looked at the booking...

TheHouseofMirth · 18/10/2010 16:53

We took DS2 last year who wasn't quite 1 and he got a gift, 120.

It is a lot more expensive this year but I think it's worth it.

Thanks THOM, I failed to negotiate the notoriously tricky Harrods application, so this is great! I was wondering where else I could try.

I am delighted we can visit somewhere other than the grotto in the local garden centre, with the bored teenager dressed as a gnome!

Thank you! will book shortly Smile.

twirlymum · 18/10/2010 18:04

We always go on to winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. Really lovely.

roundthebend4 · 18/10/2010 19:29

roundthebend4 · 18/10/2010 19:31

hmm can lift ds on to the train myself just wonder if someone could whizz his chair round to where we come out or is there lot of waiting around after the train ride ? as would not want to carry him to far or for to llomg

twirlymum · 18/10/2010 19:36

The staff there were very helpful, it may give you more info on their website. They had a storage area for buggies, it wasn't far from where we came out.

roundthebend4 · 18/10/2010 19:44

ty am going to give them a call says they can cacomidate disabled vistors ds will want to ride train so can carry him for that .But would not want to leave his chair in buggy park as he gets to heavy to hold

nikki1978 · 18/10/2010 19:46

Hmm I went last year and thought it was rubbish. There were 4 Father Xmases (4 people allowed on train at time and 4 doors) and I swear the one we had was pissed. We were in there for about 2 mins and he just gave them a candy cane each.

I'm sure it used to be much better than that when I went as a child

twirlymum · 18/10/2010 19:51

A candy cane? Mine got a beautiful Paddington Bear book.
I think it's great for the money.

Peculiarjulia · 18/10/2010 23:18

We went last year and our two got the Paddington Bear book. To be honest the train ride was a bit naff, just a couple of times round a circular track decorated with glittery penguins, but the staff were helpful (DH forgot the booking confirmation!) and Father Christmas was friendly enough so we thought the £2 booking fee was well spent. Maybe the increase in price this year means improvements in the train & decorating etc?! I've managed to book Harrods this year (after 4 years of trying!) so will be interested to see what that's like.

OhMygodNoYouDidNotJustSayThat · 19/10/2010 12:01

I was thinking of going this year? I will be 36 weeks pregnant DH and I don't have any kids... but thought it might be cute to have a pic with Santa while I'm all bumped up? Would this be weird (what with 2 adults and no kids and all)? Also do I have to ride the train? Really don't fancy trying to fit my fat arse massive bump on the train

domesticslattern · 19/10/2010 13:21

We went last year. For a two year or three year old it's utterly magical. We got a Paddington Bear book too, and the Father Xmas was fantastic with DD who wouldn't go within a mile of him. It was also really well organised with no waiting around. I have booked straight away again this year and told all my RL friends to do the same.

If it's the same as last year then it would be pretty weird to do it without riding the train onmygod. And roundthebend they would definitely be able to whizz the chair around. I am sure they would have plenty of visitors requiring the same. It was quite a slick set-up. They have after all been doing it every fifteen minutes all day for weeks and weeks.

Don't forget you have to pay extra to buy the photos.

Anyone else a bit Hmm that you have to say whether it's a gift for a boy or a girl? Why the heck can't they have the same gift? Grr. I wanted to check a box marked "not saying".

OhMygodNoYouDidNotJustSayThat · 19/10/2010 16:15

domestic on the website it shows that everyone gets the same book, some reindeer one. So maybe they only asked you for marketing reasons?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/11/2010 18:55

Coming back to this,
do tickets get sent out or do I just take my booking reference, it is just that we aven't recieved anything in the post or by email since the original confirmation of payment.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/11/2010 20:39

pinkpetrol · 09/11/2010 06:41
