How many children in secondary school still believe?

I remember a girl in my class who still believed in year 7 and she got horribly teased and found out in the worst way IMO. If your children have still believed the christmas they were in year 7 did you take them to one side and let them down gently or let them carry on believing? If you did, did classmates ruin it or did they continue believing and if so until what age?

my DD did, and i knew she would be ridiculed if she went up to secondary school. She was absolutely adamant that he was real, and didnt even cotton on when i gently explained that the tooth fairy was make believe (aged 10). So, i told her just prior to starting school, i would much rather her hear it from me than from classmates.

I now have to try and stop her from telling my three year old, as discression is not one of DD1s biggest strong pointsHmm

ds1 is 11and a half and informed me the other day that he no longer believes. i was hoping for one last christmas with him beleiving but i suppose it was inevitable Sad he has been sworn to secrecy though, and has promised to help me create the magic for his younger brother and sisters

DD3 beliebed until she was 11. She didn't take any notice of her friends who said that he wasn't real.

I meant to add we didn't tell her we just did what we did with the other girls. When she asked if he was real we said what do you think. she then said I don't think he is real. That was a litle while after starting high school. There wee other children at her scholl who alo still believed at that age.

It could be quite helpful for older DC to research the story of St Nicholas and the origins of the Santa we know today.
How we give gifts in the spirit of generosity after him, and about the tradition of Christmas stockings. These are no less meaningful than their childhood belief in Santa.

I stopped believing when I was about 8 and heard my mum pick up my stocking and take it to her room to fill it. I never told her though! DS was probably the same age when he said he didn't believe.
