I went the first year of Lapland UK, it subsequently went bust and was re-opened by the same person.
The price has since gone up and they include ice-skating and a hot meal.
I wouldn't go again.
The reviews are good because on Media Day they pull out all the stops so the journos and their kids have a fantastic time.
The year we went there was a 'fantasy ride' in a special air craft. You got checked in by air stewards (people wearing white jumpsuits). You sat in a white inflatable dome with a mud floor and not enough inflatable seats, watching the snowman projected onto the side. It was completely rubbish. I complained. I took pictures, it was appalling, I should've sent them to Trading Standards.
You left by another exit to be pelted by a snow machine.
It looked pretty. The thimblefull of free mulled wine was nice. There are students pretending to be elves. The food looked nice, but wasn't included in the price (we took a picnic, noone minded too much).
The toy-making was putting together a wooden puzzle (not great for the older ones who were 5 & 6).
Mother Christmas was good. Grumpy, but I liked that. They decorated gingerbread wearing chefs hats and aprons.
The toilet facilities were excellent.
The huskies were nice. The reindeer were too far away.
The teepee holding area for Santa was crappy.
Santa, thank God for Santa, was amazing. The best Santa, and it saved the day. Wasn't worth it just for a good Santa though.
Customer service was utterly, utterly shite, shocking, appalling. This alone would put me off.
There are far, far better events to be had, I'm sure, for a fraction of the price. The Christmas School fair for one.
