Does anyone know where I could get one? Or will a small pyrex do the same job?

I know it's not as festive but am not sure yet whether making a pudding will become something we do every year or be forgotten next year

I use small pyrex, pretty cheap in tesco. And useable the rest of the year.

Small pyrex basins are fine. Charity shops often have cheap pudding basins.

ooh thought this was about how to do a cheap haircut Wink

lol sea that made me smile after an awful afternoon with my screamy 9mo & dd1, they're both full of cold & don't I just know it!!

Pyrex it'll be although I may wander in charity shops if I go to town tomorrow so will keep my eyes peeled.

I use the plastic ones with the lids. Lids great for storage, the come in lots of sizes, are cheap and go in the microwave if I want to reheat left over pudding.

Lakeland to smart ones, but places like the Range do really cheap ones too.

Pyrex ones that don't have a big lip can be quite difficult to tie a string handle too.

lucysmam · 01/10/2010 10:34

hmmm, how do I tie a string handle to an xmas pud?

Plastic would probably be a safe bet since my dd will be involved & is very heavy handed!

A normal pudding bowl has a wide lip on it. Wrap yor string round that a few times and tie off. Then thread another piece of string trough the piece that is around the pudding basin, over the top of the basin and through the sting on the other side, I usually use a double piece of string for this. Knot on each side and there you have it, a string handle. Clear as mud?? Grin

Sorry meant to say wrap the string round the basin under the lip, not on it!

lucysmam · 01/10/2010 14:42

Grin I got you! Think I'll experiment before I actually make the pudding though, otherwise I can see me dropping it Confused

Nearly gave myself a heart attack last year when I almost dropped my beautiful cake so don't fancy a repeat of that
