Would it be boring and lazy to give lots of vouchers this year?

I am seriously contemplating going through the list of people who I usually buy for, and giving as many as possible gift vouchers (M&S or Amazon, probably). This is partly because I am already feeling the gloom that comes over me at the thought of trying to think of something nice for everyone (because apparently I am the only one in the family is capable of thinking up present ideas even for dh's familyHmm), and partly because it will save me a huge amount on postage.

I always used to have to post presents to my mum, sister and other relatives, but the in-laws usually came for a visit sometime over christmas, and I used to see all my friends to hand over their gifts - but since we have moved to Scotland, I have to post everything, and it cost a fortune last year!

I'd rather give gift tokens, and maybe spend a bit more on them because I am saving the postage, but I am worried that this is boring and thoughtless of me.

What would you do?

I think it's a great idea!
I'm planning to do the same this year as DC4 is due in six weeks so I'm going to have my hands full in the run up to christmas!

You can be thoughtful with regard to what type of vouchers you give too. I've got lots of teens / pre-teens to buy for so they'll be getting ITunes vouchers, cinema vouchers for example....

And I think it's really nice to have some vouchers to spend in the sales!

I would most people prefer them anyway my sister has asked me to just give her a voucher same for my uncle, makes it much less stressfull and they get to choose something they like in the sales :)

I'm contemplating doing this for db and sil. Trouble is they live in Ireland (southern) so I think I prob need to get Amazon vouchers.

That's ok though. What bothers me is if they think it's a great idea and do it back next year. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get Amazon vouchers. It'll just be a bit odd if I send them a £20 Amazon voucher and they send me too!

Go for it. I spend ages each year thinking of presents to suit various relatives and hardly get a thank you. I told dh last year that I was thinking of doing vouchers - it'll save me so much hassle and postage.

I love vouchers or cash. Is much preferable to a gift that you don't like and you can usually make your money go further after christmas with sales.
