Stocking fillers for a 2 year old boy?

tefal · 28/09/2010 12:15

Well, he'll be 2.5 at Christmas but I only have little cars, crayons and an orange/apple!

Any other suggestions?

Early I know but I need to be organised early this year with several things coming up.

Have you had a look at the Hawkins Bazaar website? It's been the source of Xmas stocking fillers for me for a decade now.

Yay! I love this thread! Yes it is ridiculously early but my little boy will be 2 1/4 this Christmas and I'm so looking forward to watching him unwrap his little presents. I'm ashamed to admit I've already started an Amazon Wishlist Blush In my defence we sort of missed last Christmas as we were renovating our house and we didn't do much the two years before as my husband isn't really a Christmassy person - so this year I shall be making up for lost time.

His little stocking will be filled with...

  • Books. Lots of books! (Amazon are great for really cheap books plus I'm hoping to get him the original Thomas set second hand off ebay)
  • Stickers
  • A few little wooden cars and trains (to go with the garage he'll be getting for his birthday and the BRIO train track he already has and adores)
  • Some of those playdoh tools where you stuff the playdoh in one side and sort of inject it out the other side (they had them at toddler group last week and he loved them)

I bought him a box of percussion instruments off ebay a few weeks ago and he LOVES them (as does his 5 month old little sister) so would defo recommend those.

I shall be stealing the cutlery, plate, toothbrush and bubble bath suggestions and will be heading over to the Hawkins Bazaar website.

Er...you mean....but...I though the stockings were filled by...someone else. That big guy who doesn't shave. What are you telling me? Shock

neverquitesure · 28/09/2010 15:39

Of course KittyFoyle - who else? We just need a few ideas for our letters to him Smile

colditz · 28/09/2010 15:41

Chocolate coins

Little box of outrageously indulgant cereal (my children still remember the Christmas I had worked a night shift and couldn't get home until 8.30, and so their dad and I had gift wrapped new bowls, little cereals and some UHT milk in their bedroom, and they had a Santa Breakfast with their dad)

hama beads

ja9 · 28/09/2010 15:43

tefal - you'll get a magic facecloth in a big asda or tesco, or my poundland have them just now...

KittyFoyle · 28/09/2010 15:44

Oh. Thank goodness. I was quite shaken for a moment. I'll get back to making my elf trap at once.

BornToFolk · 28/09/2010 15:51

I recently bought a Toy Story magic faceloth in Boots for DS's stocking. It was a couple of quid.

I also got a Toy Story pencil case when it was reduced in the Disney Store.

Last year, I managed to get a couple of wooden trains in Tesco to fit his wooden (Brio style) train track. They were only about £3 each.

I've always put in a couple of second hand Ladybird books too.

I love the box of cereal idea! DS loves crunchy cereal but we don't let him have it all that often due to salt/sugar content. He'd be utterly thrilled if he got a box of Cooca Pops from Father Christmas!

neverquitesure · 28/09/2010 15:54

Oooooo - love the Santa Breakfast idea colditz!

Not sure you're meant to trap the elves. Don't want to anger the big man and end up with reindeer poo in your stocking.
