I'm really trying to avoid buying more plastic tat and our house is full of clutter so has anyone got any ideas for 3 boy's stockings? My brainwave so far is wooden letters for their bedroom doors, sponges, beanies and I've seen fab bath flutes on Amazon (plastic but fantastic)wooden cars and then loads of vests and underwear, has anyone out there has found any wee gems?

If you really want to be eco-friendly, don't do any materialism at Christmas. Keep it for relationships and celebration.

not sure if this is what you're thinking of, and kind of depends how old your boys are, but we've done

fancy kids cutlery,

nice beakers / water bottles from disney store,

character facecloths, toothbrushes, bubble bath and toothpaste

swim goggles

fancy / novelty socks vests and pants

choc coins and orange obviously!

this year maybe bookmarks / story cds

with ds, wrist sweatbands have been a huge hit recently so maybe a new one of them...

have you tried the WWF website/xmas catelouge? they do lots of nice little things like recycled pencils and sweets and things, and they do wooden puzzles if thats what your after.

Second hand stuff, charity shops & car boot sales. Both cheap, and green.

Some people put those wee boxes of (usually banned sugary) cereal in their childrens stockings, and of course it's used up by breakfast christmas day; satsuma and chocolate (also don't last long); the little face cloths are very practical and last years; new toothbrushes; little dynamo torches are fun for most ages (plus a bonus is you'll be able to hear if they're using them illicitly after lights out Grin); little books (eg miffy, maisy, spot for littlies, where's wally for older children)... I don't go overboard on stockings, they're just for fun really, and my 2 are small enough to be overjoyed by new knickers or a pencil!

Some fab ideas here thanks a lot. Those websites are fab brooke and wee cereal boxes is one I hadn't heard before. I really enjoy filling stockings I got the big pressies today in Argos 3 for 2 so will now start getting little bits and pieces. How exciting:)
