i have sorted what main present i am getting for ds1 (11) and the 2 dd's (5 and 4), but have no idea what to get for ds2 who is 9, with a learning delay. he has a reading age of about 6.5-7 years, so it cant be anything that involves lots of difficult instructions, and being a 9 year old boy he is rather boisterous so it needs to be pretty indestructible. any ideas please???

for xmas?

My 9 year old loves lego. Have you thought of getting him a lego set? My DS has a similar reading age, he manages to follow lego instructions as they are usually just pictures and his older brother helps if needed.

cornsilk909 · 08/09/2010 18:12

I was going to say lego as well. Or bionicles.

cherrymonster · 08/09/2010 18:57

yes cornsilk, for xmas. he is no good with lego, they have loads and he just chucks it around and they lose pieces. needs to be something that is pretty much in one piece

camera/camcorder
these vtech things are really sturdy

cherrymonster · 08/09/2010 20:52

thanks cornsilk, i think i want those, never mind him. he had wall-e and eve remote control toys last year and destroyed them, he isnt into taking pictures (doesnt stay still long enough), has a ds, has a bike, has a scalectrix, um, cant think what else now. he is a nightmare to buy for, he really is

will he go on the computer?

cornsilk909 · 08/09/2010 22:29

this is very sturdy

cherrymonster · 08/09/2010 22:44

thanks cornsilk, but again, he doesnt sit still long enough for that. his understanding is pretty good, its just his reading and hand-eye co-ordination thats pretty poor. also, he would realise that that is designed for a much younger child. i am looking at expanding his scalextric set at the moment, have seen a lovely micro set which i think he would like, or also looking at air hogs
