Mick Fleming of Church on the Street, Burnley was approached by a policeman and informed that the displaying of John 3:16 on the back of his motorhome could be considered hate speech.

thoughts?

I think that the van with the scripture is fine, I was thinking perhaps he could write on his van that it is a Christian mobile worship van so people might approach him less.

all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution Tim. 3:12

Honestly baffled at how that could be hate speech. One day our Bible will be banned, at this rate. Persecution will increase though, in the last days.

That is completely mad. I am genuinely quite shocked..

The verse starts with "God so loved the world"
How can a verse about love be hate speech?

I think the police person who tapped him on the shoulder, perhaps needs a little training. They probably did not even know it is from the Bible. It is yet more proof, as if we need it, of how these isles, and those who would govern us, are turning their faces away from Christ.

I find it very telling.

The fact that a policeman felt it appropriate to offer such an advisory, unsolicited strikes me as deeply disturbing. There’s a chill wind blowing for Christians now.

Yes, I find myself wondering whether he'd been told to do that or whether it was off his own inclinations. Are police being taught that anything Biblical is hate speech? Or any slogan in general? Honestly they're spending too much time on this sort of non-issue and need to get back to proper policing!

It certainly makes me wonder what is being taught now in police training sessions.

Indeed. It's all very odd but not unexpected.

I know the police have a scheme going called Project Violet and it can be used by children and adults to deal with religious abuse from all religions. May be this may also be in extremism teaching for them which I don't think this is extremism and may be they were in a bad mood or misinformed. The person involved could have contacted the police if they have not to find out why they said this to learn the reasons why.

A story from someone I know was online about their faith and AI had captured their info and tagged the wrong information about them calling them a pastor when they was not and other views about them based on the wrong story. They tagged two articles together and assumed it was about them another article when it was not. In their work they had to go anonymous and could not disclose their faith views online so I had to remove it and also the article that led to it. I am surprised that some jobs ask you not to disclose your faith in the UK.

Today I read that the US will be looking people up online for five years and we all have to stand by what put on there or it seems they will be looking you up.

I'm surprised that the police didn't put out a full statement why they took those actions.
