Melissa Dougherty (Apologetics) sums up NAR: (WoF = Word of Faith)
"While the NAR leaders embrace New Thought teachings associated with WoF—such as health and prosperity teachings, co-creation with God, and the power of thoughts and words—it also tends to blur the lines with New Age concepts. The NAR is also guilty of trying to "redeem" certain New Age practices, including (but not limited to) psychic mediumship, tapping into inner power, power objects, tarot, energy healing, astral projection, and even channeling, which can be associated with both New Age and New Thought.
"In my opinion, one reason the NAR is more aggressive in trying to redeem New Age and New Thought has to do with their eschatology, or their belief of the end times: Jesus can only return when there's heaven on earth. How do they bring heaven to earth? Through signs, wonders, and miracles. They always want MORE power, and part of the reason why is to make this happen. So many of the NAR leaders reason that the New Age and New Thought have power that can be redeemed to achieve this eschatological goal.
Both the Word of Faith and the Signs and Wonders movements are dangerous. While they say they operate in God's power, I believe this is a guise. It ultimately shifts divine authority into human hands, granting humans a power that belongs to God alone."
