Starts Sunday night on BBC. Anyone else planning to watch? We love it. Posting here even though it's not explicitly Christian because there's usually a Christian on it and the conversations are so interesting. Cast below copied from Wikipedia.

The Road through the Alps (2025)
Following a revived medieval route, until the Einsiedeln Abbey, in Switzerland.

Harry Clark (Catholic)
Helen Lederer (believer in God)
Jay McGuiness (Agnostic)
Jeff Brazier (spiritual)
Daliso Chaponda (multi-religious)
Stef Reid (Christian)
Nelufar Hedayat (Muslim)

Oooh thanks for the heads up. I've loved the previous series.
Interesting line up.

@ChristmasStars Oooh! Thank you for the reminder. It is on my radar. I have enjoyed all the previous pilgrimages.

LOL. I think I almost said the same as you, virtually word for word. 😂

Must be true then!

ChristmasStars · 18/04/2025 17:29

😀😀

It's always so interesting hearing the way the pilgrimage impacts the pilgrims, isn't it?

Yes, I’ll be watching. I love this series, look forward to it every year.

I tend to binge watch when I get the chance and look forward to discussing it here.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/04/2025 21:00

Anyone else watching now?

FuzzyPuffling · 20/04/2025 21:02

Well it's beautiful scenery for a start.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/04/2025 21:06

And a nice varied group of people. Looking promising...

FuzzyPuffling · 20/04/2025 21:38

Jay's coming across as very thoughtful.
Harry seems like an overgrown teenager! Maybe he'll mellow later.

ChristmasStars · 20/04/2025 21:39

I'm watching! It's so beautiful round there isn't it?

He seems a bit sad, and like he's really searching doesn't he? Jay I mean.

Only three episodes this series. There are usually more, aren't there?

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 21/04/2025 07:32

Yes, I saw there were only three episodes. I hope that doesn't mean they're going to skim over thoughtful things. I like it when the participants have time and space to develop their spiritual thinking.

ChristmasStars · 21/04/2025 07:56

Yes! That's the beauty of the programme.

Wonderful and inspiring. Who knew 'reality' tv could be like this. A likeable bunch of celebs walking a glorious route. Made me determined to crack on and undertake my own pilgrimage.

Agree with pp that Jay seems to be searching for something.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/04/2025 08:31

DH keeps wanting to do a pilgrimage now- his brother has done Compostela several times.
I would have difficulty some of the accommodation!

Is Harry from the Travelling community?

ChristmasStars · 23/04/2025 08:39

It's really interesting isn't it @NeatCoralMember ?
@FuzzyPuffling I am not sure I fancy a pilgrimage really, but I've done a retreat a few times and that was similar in some ways. Doesn't get your steps up in the same way though 😂

Not sure about Harry - haven't heard that.

I might be ok if there was a hot bath and a room of my own at the end of every day. And someone to cook my dinner. I'm not really entering into the spirit, am I?

Thegreatestoftheseislove · 23/04/2025 11:20

I enjoyed the way that in this series they were so accepting of each other. I know it is all in the editing but in previous series you could sometimes feel a little tension. The folk they meet along the way all seem to have such gentle spirits.

I am afraid that at my time of life, I am like FuzzyPuffling and would need some creature comforts at the end of a hard day’s walking. For me, it just was not long enough and in depth enough to truly see something more. What that something more is, I’m not sure.

It was entertaining and of course, the scenery was spectacular - that alone would leave me in awe of the beauty of Creation.

Arouet · 24/04/2025 15:14

I was really impressed that they could bend over and tie their boolaces the day after walking for hours 🤣.

I've only watched the first episode but looking forward to the rest, having seen the other series. The landscape is stunning but my word, the climbing in the snow looks tough
