dd (4) is going grey - any reason to worry?

Well, a slight exaggeration, but she has 2 or 3 distinctly white hairs at the top of her head. They're also thick and wiry. I've only noticed them recently.

Any reason to worry, or is this just one of those things? I asked GP when we were attending about something else, and she just looked bemused and didn't really comment.

Is it likely to stop here, or escalate?

There is, by the way, no family history of going grey early. Quite the opposite. I'm as old as the hills and still no grey hairs at all.

DS1 is aged 10 he hs had 2 grey hairs forever.
Never changed never gone away, always there, nothing to wrry about. just pigmenatation.

That's reassuring, Sixty, many thanks.
It is of course possible they've always been there. I am VERY short-sighted, and I don't wash her hair all that often...

I have vitiligo which started off as a group of grey hairs on the crown of my head and white eyelashes. My vitiligo is completely harmless, but when my mum 1st took me to the docs about it, at about age 6, they just wanted to check it wasn't linked to anything else (I think it's diabetes and thyroid problems). Almost certainly just a hypopigmentation patch, but surely no harm in having it checked out.

Thanks, Daisy. I think I'll keep a close eye, and if any more appear I'll certainly chase up with the GP.

I fell at the age of 3 and hit my head the hair at the front of my head turned grey. I am now 48 and this is still the only grey hair I have.
