7 month old D&V bug- how long do they last?

DD2 came down with a D&V bug in the small hours of Sunday- both ends but mostly diarrhoea. Since then she ran high temps until this morning, and is finally cooler, but the diarrhoea is persisting still (she's going a lot, and it's not solidifying at all!). She's b'fed, and does usually take solids but hasn't been keen since Saturday morning. I'm feeding her on demand and offering sips of water too. She doesn't seem dehydrated but bit concerned about how long the bad diarrhoea is lasting.

Any advice? Thanks!

Hi, my 8 month old has caught this off her brother twice now both times the sickness stopped first but the diarrhea lasted about 5 days longer, I spoke to the hv and it can stay in their gut for upto two weeks. :-(

5-7 days is average, but should taper off. If her wet nappies decrease (difficult to measure I know!) or she becomes listless and not responding to you in a normal way she may be becoming dehydrated, but bf ing is excellent when D&V.

Mine had this at 8 months. Vomiting finished first, as PP says. She developed a rash after 3 days so I took her to GP - just a post viral rash, but was told not to give her dairy for 7 days after as they can become temporarily lactose intolerant with a D&V bug. I don't know how true this is - he said I didn't have to cut out dairy for BM.

Thank you all. She is much more herself today but indeed still exploding t'other end. Definitely not dehydrated at least, although still not at all keen on solids. Were yours the same? I had also heard about temporary lactose intolerance, so may just be cautious in case. I was supposed to be weaning her onto formula/bottles but have stopped for the moment, though she's having to have some today as I'm back at work

Thanks for your help
