Dairy, temperature and birthdays

My DS3 has always had a problem with dairy. He is 2 TODAY and I decided to give him dairy - probably a very stupid idea but the cake was made, so I thought I would see what happened. He has eaten the odd amount of it over the last 6 months or so anyway, but wondered if maybe he had grown out of it a bit - this was sanctioned by Dr and Dietician.

So he had cake, not a lot, but had butter icing on it. About 11am. By 12.30 I thought he had a bit of a temperature but wasn't sure. Gave him Ibroprofen just incase. He was on cracking form! Ate ok, not a lot but ok, drank oat milk etc before bed. We just went to bed ourselves and he squeaked a bit more than normal so went in and he had puked. Not a lot, enough that it smelt, but could have been a bubble which had been in there too long and as he sat up due to uncomfortablness it came up. However he has a cracking temperature of 39.7! Do we think this is all related or do you think he just has a plain old bug of some sort? His older brother had a temp on Monday and Tuesday but I thought it was sunstroke/exhaustion - no vomit but wasn't interested in food (who is when they have a temperature?). The fact he didn't shout when he puked to me says that it was a burp that went wrong and he doesn't feel sick, and he took calpol very happily, but wondering if all this is related to his dairy issue - can that have a temperature rise?

He has gone back to bed ok, bit singy and talkie, but on his own and happy. Seems perfectly content and went down happily.

Any ideas?

Maybe he has the same thing his brother had alongside an upset tummy from the dairy/other bday food? If he seems happy enough in himself and is drinking plenty I wouldn't worry too much. Hopefully he's feeling better today.

Have a 2 year old who is allergic to dairy and eggs too. He used to get instant hives from any contact but now doesn't always get that. If he has a bit he sometimes does puke later on when in bed.. and feels better straight away after being sick. Never noticed a temperature but especially in this heat wouldn't be surprised if it was all part of feeling poorly. Personally I would probably assume it is a reaction but try again in a while with a small amount again if docs say ok...
