does she have a residue of the norovirus?

my 13 year old dd got the norovirus in february but quite mildly compared to friends as she only vomited twice in one day and just felt like rubbish the next day. However, these past few weeks (well, motnhs!) she has been sent home from school 3 times and has felt sick and nauseaus at least three times a week. We've been to the doctors twice but it hasnt stopped and its really getting her down. the school nurse said she might have a residue of the norovirus in her system still but she hasnt actually been physically sick yet and is too scared to make herself sick.

shes's growing more and more frustrated because she keeps missing school, dance classes and cheer classes and she has a competition in less than 3 weeks which involves a 4 hour coach ride to coventry!

sorry for the long message but can anyone reccomend anything? thanks in advance

Wild shot in the dark here but is she now a bit phobic of being sick? If so the nausea could be caused by anxiety/the fear of being sick again, ironically.

Is that possible with your DD?

Being as she is 13 maybe its related to hormones due to puberty? I remember being around 12/13 and feeling incredibly sick a lot of the time and not knowing why. I don't recall ever being sick but I did feel very unwell almost constantly! It felt very much like the sick feeling I had when I was pregnant with both my boys, but obviously a bit milder

thanks for the quick replies!

i'm begining to think she does have a bit of a phobia of being sick. she frequently calls herself a wimp as she is scared by a lot of things! so i try to tell her that being sick is natural and nothing to be afraid of!

DTWD, yes you could also be right as she does get very bad pmt so maybe this sickness stems off from it? do you remeber how long it took for the sickness to go away or ease off a bit?

thank you both

Just want to add that I also developed a bit of a phobia about being sick but it was literally because I felt so awful so much of the time. Waves of nausea would come from nowhere and I was terrified that I would throw up in front of my class mates or on the bus! I remember feeling really bad for maybe a year and unfortunately it did effect my lifestyle in a big way. It altered my personality, made me stop doing certain activities and ruined my enjoyment of food for a while. However, by the time I was 14 or so things were much better, although I did still suffer a bit once a month!
