DS2 is 7 months but 10kg...if I go by age I can give him 2.5 ml Nurofen, by weight is 5ml. He is screaming in agony with 6 TEETH all at bursting point. WWYD?
(Have given him cold things of many varieties, flannels, homeopathic etc...he has eruption cysts on two of these teeth...the big guns are needed!)

I would go by age. Ds is HUGE but the only time we've ever went by weight was when advised to by the hospital as he had a fever we couldnt keep down.

ps - what are eruption cysts?

turtle23 · 28/06/2010 08:50

They are big swollen blood blisters on gums. DS1 got them on every tooth. They're very sore...he wont eat and am struggling even to bf him today and in this heat that's not good! He won't even have a lolly.

its not official to go by weight, you have to follow whats on the bottle unless prescribed for a specific illness by GP or hospital. The manufacturer would not be liable if you had an adverse reaction. If you deviate from the stated dose you'll get some looks from the professionals. Having said that an odd dose certainly wouldnt do any harm. Have you tried brufen and calpol together?. given at stated dosage is quite safe together. Teething granules? Not nice things teeth imo
