is it a something i should be concerned about?

ds1 snores really, really badly. I can hear him from down here.
ds2 a bit, but not so bad

I never thought much of it until I read something online that afriend had said earlier about tonsils and adenoids and snoring, so wondered if i ought to talk to the GP about it>?

If they wake up tired then it's a good idea to see the GP

If he's always slept this much then I'd mention it next time you need to take him, the criteria for adeniod removal is snoring and non-refreshing sleep so it's something to look out for. Tonsils are not normally removed unless they have more then three episodes of tonsilitis in 6 months IIRC, enlarged tonsils do not normally cause snoring.

My DS snored, a lot and loudly, when he was young, he is 10 now. He still snores a little - especially when very tired but it has mostly tailed off. If it is waking him or he appears to miss breathes then get it checked but if it isn't waking him and his breathing, whilst noisy, is ok then I wouldn't worry. He will probably grow out of it. If you are worried then take him to your GP and ask for him to be checked out by the Dr and/or an ENT specialist, it will put your mind at rest.

dd2 snored hugely, but also gasped and stopped breathing for a few seconds. Eventually she could barely eat solids. All down to large tonsils and adenoids, and she had both out at 25 months of age.

She's now much, much better, thriving and energetic, but still snores! Its no longer worrying, though, as she doesn't have apnoea (the bit where she gasps and can't breathe) or trouble eating. It was awful, tbh, and now its just - well, noisy

If in doubt, do talk to GP.

(ps they do take tonsils out for bad sleep apnoea, dd has never had tonsilitis!)
