My DD2 (3yr) has got impetigo (dx'd myself). It's been going around pre-school so was half expecting it. She woke up this morning with a cluster of spots on her face and as the day has gone on she has a lot more.

I'll call the dr tomorrow am and try and get an appt and prescription for antibiotic cream but I wondered if anyone had any advice. Any hot tips or miracle cures?

Thanks in advance

As soon as you see it, treat it and that will stop it spreading.

Clean all of the bedding and towels more regularly when they have an attack of it.

DS had it about 6 times in 8 months and the GP seemed very uninterested in getting to the bottom of it. I then went to a Homeopath who treated ds and he's had one mild case of it since and nothing for 6 months (touch wood)

I always put a few drops of tea tree oil in the bathwater when DC have impetigo (none for ages, touch wood!). Seems to work well, though I do use it in conjunction with the cream that the doctor prescribes.

Thanks for that. I'm actually a big fan of homeopathy but don't feel I can call our homeopath at the weekend. I've looked in my books but she doesn't seem to fit just one remedy.

At what stage does it get infectious? DD2 has been with DD1 all day in the garden so wondered what the chances of DD1 was of catching it? At the moment she just has raised red spots. No blisters of oozing etc.

I have a feeling you might say very high.

Sorry cross posted.

Thanks blametheparents, I'll do that tomorrow.

All I can say is my DD did not get it the last time that Ds had it.
Bath them separately and make sure they use separate towels.
